    Default Kingdoms won't launch

SecuROM on Kingdoms is causing issues. Kingdoms digital download from Gamersgate isn't executing.

    1. Are you logged in as Administrator?
    2. Have you disabled the UAC in the registry?
    3. Have you taken ownership/control of C: drive?
    4. Have you installed the game in anything BUT Program Files or Program Files (x86)?
This is the way around SecuROM BS on a digital download.

Oh yeah, kingdoms.exe is not a standalone executable. You need one of the four Kingdoms campaigns that came with it or a mod based on one of the campaigns.

Anything less, you will be fighting a losing battle with yourself.

And, no, I'm not going to make fun of you.

    2. Nope, it had been suggested before but to be honest I'm a little frightened to turn it off completely and I heard it disables metro apps. Also I distinctly recall that it turned out to not be necessary when I got it working last time. I will do it if you believe it to be of significant importance.
    3. Under Administrators I have Full Control. When I try to add Full Control to Users it comes up with a few different errors in separate windows that I'm not sure whether of not I should be concerned about or if it doesn't pertain to us :

"An error ocurred while applying security information to:
    C:\Boot
Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied."

    And the same thing for C:\bootmgr, C:\Program Files, C:\Program Files (x86), C:\Windows

    Then -
"An error occurred while applying security information to:
    C:\hiberfil.sys
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"

And the same thing for C:\pagefile.sys, C:\swapfile.sys

    4. Yes, I mostly install all my games outside of Program Files. In this case it's C: > Users > *Name* > Games (the files aren't in a medieval folder because Gamersgate didn't create one, but I've tried it where I've created a Medieval 2 Total War folder myself as well and installed it there and it didn't work. That wouldn't make a difference, would it?)

Interesting about Kingdoms.exe!! I can't find .exe for any of the four campaigns either for some reason.

Thanks so much for your help and for not making fun of 'That guy that bought from Gamersgate".

Others have found it to be a necessity for Medieval2.

All of us short of a Developer's license from Microsoft gets these messages. Click Okay and go on.

It may with all else taken care of first.

Right-click the icon, click properties and will find in the Target line, it points to a batch file in the matching folder.

Securom got back with me. They gave me an unlock code and it worked.

Thanks so much for your help and timely responses, Irishron. I bet you've cured more headaches than Tylenol with your 42 thousand posts.
