I like the sound of "individuals from within another faction" (meaning Nobles, I think) will give us missions to further their own political ends. Maybe if that noble comes to power the overall faction will like us more. This is probably as deep as the politics go in this game.
I guess when we make a diplomatic agreement for a faction to attack another faction for us, it is like we are giving that faction a mission.
If one of noblemen gives us a really disasterous or foolhardy mission (possibly a bug), I'd like to be able to have my assassin take him out. But since they aren't a unit on the map, I guess there is little chance of getting rid of the pompus and bugged ones we'll grow to hate.

Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
Two points I have to make on this.
Maybe diplomatic agreements will actually mean something if they're assigned as a mission. If the player makes an agreement with another faction to carry out a certain action in the future (for example, attack another faction), this agreement will become a mission,
And..
Interesting, varied? hmm.. then why do 3 of the 6 screenshots of missions feature 'blockade this port' missions. Hopefully this is just coincidence. The result is that the player gets an interesting set of varied, achievable, and relevant missions throughout the course of the campaign.

Good to see that M2TW will have more flavor than RTW. RTW got so boring in the mid game.

These fine gentlemen's have thanks to their consistent idiotic posts have earned their place on my ignore list: mrmouth, The Illusionist, motiv-8, mongrel, azoth, thorn777 and elfdude. If you want to join their honourable rank you just have to post idiotic posts and you will get there in no time.
same thing like the senate giving missions! i hope the gameplay is quite different..if it is then thats why they added video messages and other samll features to spice up the game! (the battles seem so cool) but who cares!!! im buying the game anyways!![]()

my question is does the computer get missions as well?
because from what i read it said that only the player gets missions when you have diplomatic agreement. I think that if the AI had some kind of mission system, this would be better. This would be very helpful for when you tell a faction to attack another faction because you would be able to set a minimum time that they must attack by.
I wonder what sort of missions we can expect. I hope it's not just the same old "blockcade this port" or "attack this settlement" that we saw in RTW.
I want more detailed missions.
The diplomatic agreement means when you get assigned a mission to help your allies, all the catholic factions will still have the Pope giving them crusades to do, and all factions will have a Council of Nobles.

I wonder how the reinforcment system will work in the game.
In RTW an allied army had to be within the vicinity of the battle to act as reinforcments. I hope the AI is smart enough to the point where they'll actually travel to help you. Or if they see a abnormally large enemy force at my borders, they'll make there way over to the threat to either help me get rid of it, or act as a deterrent to war.
These are very key features I think really need to be added to the campaign map.
Sort of like a "buddy" system, if you will.

Was never to happy with missions in RTW.
It always felt like my growth was being hampered by these missions instead of helped. I didn't want to **** off faction whoever yet but I had better or the Senate will start taking my money.
If the guilds and council of nobles were represented by characters "ingame" that I could assassinate, bribe, marry a daughter too, etc... then I could really interact with them gamewise instead of only accept/decline.
If these "missions" actually led to rebellions by a powerful noble in another faction or economic sabotage in a nation I was at war with then yes, by all means, gimme missions.
Unfortunately, I fear that all missions will do is cause wars with factions I don't want to tick off yet.
Pope crusades yes
Random missions are crap.
Have you guys looked at the missions show in the pics? The only ones that come with a penalty are the ones from the Guilds, and thats it. So you can completely disregarsd what your Council of Nobles says by the looks of it.

Pope's ones will come with a penalty too.

if it's true that noble's will won't incur a penalty, i look forward to it. it'll be a sweet change from what happened to poland historically.
i'll relish telling them computer, "I'll take that into consideration, but..."![]()
