    Default the best late units?

weakness of HRE: " Lacks the late period professional armies of England and France"
    http://www.totalwar.org.pl/gallery/camp3.JPG

France and England would have the best units in the late period and would be unstoppable.

Not really, HRE still has the gothic knights which are probably the best western cavalry and they have the biggest income due to having the most provinces

No France has the best western cavalery with gendarmes:

And I speak only for the unit roster and not for the income you could have.

That is a generalization, and it won't be the gendarmes, they were in MTW as sort of a discount knight, not quite as good but not as effective either.

In MTW France was probably the best heavy cav faction, especially in the high period, but that was because of the discounts they got on Chivalric Knights, but their cav wasn't necessarily better. In MTW2 it may mean that their recruitment pools for Knights will be larger than other nations.

In MTW the best heavy cav was Gothic Knights and Spanish Lancers, and it will probably be the same in MTW 2.

Back to the original poster, I don't think that there will be a "best" late unit faction, but if I had to guess I would say the best late units will be the Turks and Spanish or Italians.

    MTW isn't MTW2,
in MTW gendarmes hadn't lance and they weren't a unique unit, in MTW2 is a special French unit and have now a lance.
plus the faction menu in MTW2 said the French has the "BEST" western cavalery with the Gendarmes picture, I have no doubt about who is the best cavalery between Gendarmes and Gothic Knights.

Whoah, hang on dude. Your forgetting the Swiss mercenaries, Landsknechts, hell any German mercs from that time. They were absolutely vicious, feared, even invented advanced martial arts systems that survive to this day. And all in the late period.

I dare to claim hussite warwagons. Tell me what other unit so massively outnumbered would turn back 4 armies of (over 500,000) Crusaders (gothic knights present as well)?

Hello, this is my first post!
Im writing because I am very confused by this statement about the HRE: "Lacks the late period professional armies of England and France". Can Somone please tell me in which way the Armies of France and especially england () were more professional in the 16th century.

In Fact in the italian wars, German Landsknechte and swiss troops formed the backbone of ervery french army! They deleoped new Infantery Tactics which became the standart in europe until the 30years war!

So please explain me why England (especially England!!!) and France will be more advaced. I know this is a english game (and of course its only a game), but this is just ridicolus!

P.S.: Sorry for my bad english!

perhaps because the HRE army was only mercenaries and not an national army like French and English but it's true the term professional is strange for mercenery because war is their profession. :hmmm:
after all Germans should also have a weakness

The best late unit is: Late General's Bodyguard, of course.

For late it'll be the professional gunpowder troops like Janissaries and Conquistadors. At least thats my guess.
