    Default Galatikoi Kuarothoroi

Reading the description of the Galatikoi Kuarothoroi, it says they're Galatian Heavy Spearmen, but strangely enough, their primary weapon is the sword.
I thought it was rather singular, any opinion?

It's probably just an oversight on the part of whoever wrote the unit descriptions. I believe Pontos and AS get the actual spearmen, but Ptolemy gets the swordsmen. Both are imported Gauls given better equipment by their Hellenic employers, so it'd be understandable if a unit card got switched up.

Nope, there is no oversight. Galatikoi Kuarothoroi are meant to be a spear/sword dual purpose melee unit. Quite a few factions get them, including Romans. The peculiar setup (swords as primary weapon) was implemented because the devs wanted Kuarothoroi and similar units to charge with their spears instead of their swords (which makes sense). What doesn't make sense, however, is that they now use their spears in wall fights. I guess this trade-off looked good on paper but given the nature of RTW/EB (lots of siege battles), it means that these units are a lot less useful in sieges than they should be.

Galatikoi Kleruchoi (only available for Ptolemaioi and Saba) are also heavy infantry, however they have swords and javelins like most other swordsmen in the game.

the main problem is that I wanted to use them as Heavy Spearmen (as the name suggest) as auxilia for the Marian Legions (lacking good spearmen), but they guard with sword, not with spear....

You still have Greek Classical Hoplites for that plus there are a lot of good regional spearmen in any direction you decide to expand.

Kuarothoroi are still very useful troops to have around.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I hope they changed the setup for EB 2. Still, like Boriak says, there are hoplites.
