    Default Imperator/Triumph

Firstly I'd like to thank the creators of this brilliant mod, I've just recently installed it and started a M/M Romani campaign to orientate myself.

One of my characters (the 'mulish' Scipio) won a 'heroic victory' against a rebel force and was acclaimed 'Imperator' by his men.

Apparently this means that he can return with his army to Rome to celebrate a Triumph as soon as the Senate authorises it.

It's winter and Rome is the only city in range, I would like to put these forces in Rome for retraining (mercenary cavalry need to see a blacksmith and Scipio 'the mulish' might benefit from the school there - he's also a decent administrator).

I am concerned about bringing them to Rome without the Senate authorising a Triumph first- is this an issue?

Love the native language stuff by the way, battles feel more real and voice acting really good- esp. compared to R2TW lol- "blud, blud, blud!", "we hungah faw battaw!", "roooaaaw!"

Yes, it is. He could lose the right to Triumph and a great deal of reliability

Thanks for the warning Ryoga84, is it okay if elements of the army enter Rome so long as Asinius isn't with them?

Also, the tooltip says that he must conquer the lands of his enemies before celebrating a triumph, is this just part of the Imperator description or must he take the rebels' home city?

I've searched the forum but found no info on how triumphs work.

of course, all the "he can return with his army to Rome to celebrate a Triumph as soon as the Senate authorises it." thing is purely cosmetic. Let the Family Member stay out of rome (Capua is a good choice) until the Senate grant him Triumph

Well... this is not a "normal" triumph, he was acclaimed imperator. It's a little more uncommon occurrence, so I don't really know =P
retrain the army and, if Asinius still hasn't been granted Triumph, let him conquer a couple more of cities (maybe in some great battle, instead of a siege).

Thanks again for the answer, I'll keep him away from Rome for now- really, I think his men got a bit over enthusiastic as it was only a skirmish (his first action). He led two units of accensii? (slingers) and one of mercenary cavalry to victory against two velites, one rorarii and equites.
He doesn't really deserve a triumph

My only roman to get a triumph was Caius Aurelius Cotta. Thankfully I didn't walk into Rome, because I read the Triumphator trait. I left my army in Patavium and marched straight to Rome. He's pretty much the opposite of your character. He won huge battles in Gaul, and is now besieging Massalia. However, the second he got a triumph, he got a position in the senate as well, as a tribune of the plebs or something. Suddenly he started using that power for "wrong" things, against the power of the senate. Are these two things related?

There are certainly character traits like feeling 'above the law' or that they are more likely to persue their own ends without regard to the law and it's quite possible that if such a man is given a triumph that it makes him even more high handed and egotistical- don't know for sure though.

My guy was a Plebian, but had nothing else unusual about him. He was unselfish, optimistic and loyal.

I'm new to EB so I don't know the answer but there are many traits- I often get marriage proposals (well not personally )from guys who are 'insolens' (think they are above the law)- as a staunch defender of the republic I always reject these- same with 'crudelis' which seems to be the base trait for cruelty. These traits can probably develop and get worse.

Also, that 'loyal' trait can change, I've had a few that have started out loyal but become disloyal later on- those I execute by sending them to die alone against rebels. disloyalty will not be tolerated.

Why have a people serving slave of a faction when you can have a self serving empire?
