    BareBones Superior Campaign AI - Patch 8, Patch 9

    Quick & easy way to get Superior AI behavior during your Campaign game... this specifically means aggressive ‘Task Management’ and a better ability to properly defend itself.




    This Mod uses the cai_task_management_system_task_generator_groups_generators_junction table, and just a few values in campaign_ai_personality_junctions_tables - ONLY - with the hopes that it is better modularized / lightweight and can be used easily with other Mods...

    *SPECIAL NOTE ON cai_task_management_system_task_generator : Please use this in your own Mods! If not, you're missing out! Change the values and make it yours or rip mine and just drop my name, but realize this is the key to it all....

    PRIMARY FEATURES / TWEAKS

    Campaign AI
    • AI players Prioritize “Region Defense” on “Grouping” instead of “Reserves,” “Slots,” or “Unhappiness Mitigation”

    AI players significantly prioritize “Task Management” for the following:
    • REGIONLESS_FACTION_FORCES_SHOULD_ATTACK_LOCAL_REGIONS
    • ACTIVELY_DEFEND_THREATENED_REGIONS (*new* in Patch 7)
    • ATTACK_NEIGHBOURING_WAR_REGIONS
    • COMPLETE_PROVINCE
    • COMPLETE_SEA_REGION_CONTROL
    • RAID_UNSTABLE_REGIONS (*new* in Patch 7)
    • WAR_COORDINATION_ATTACK_FORCES
    • WAR_COORDINATION_ATTACK_REGIONS

    AI players prioritize “Task Management” for the following:
    • ATTACK_FOOD_PRODUCING_REGIONS
    • ATTACK_ALL_LOCAL_HUMAN_SETTLEMENTS
    • DEFEND_SEA_REGIONS

    AI players slightly prioritize “Task Management” for the following:
    • ATTACK_ALL_ENEMY_SETTLEMENTS
    • ATTACK_ALL_ENEMY_FORCES
    • ATTACK_ALL_LOCAL_FORCES_SIZE_SCALED
    • ATTACK_ALL_LOCAL_HUMAN_FORCES_SIZE_SCALED
    • ATTACK_SETTLEMENTS_NEAR_OUR_FORCES


    NOTE: This aspect of the Campaign AI is exactly the same as the modified values in TheDuBMod Superior Campaign AI, but since it's "BareBones"- that's all you get. If you're interested in more / similar aspects, visit The DüB's DuB Mod Collection & we'll get you sorted out. ;o)

    *Since this is a MiniMod - it should be completely compatible with other Mods as long as they don't dabble into similar modification values

    PS- that's Salvador Dalí if anyone is curious... His other work is just as amazing!



    INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

    • Step 1. Download the .zip file(s)
    • Step 2. Extract the .pack file(s) in the zip file(s) into your Rome 2\Data directory (For Example: '...\steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II\data')
    • Step 3. Load your Rome 2 game and Play!

    Nathris, The BareBones Superior Campaign AI is completely compatible with DeI thanks to Dresden and others planning ahead with table fragments (and same as BareBones).

    Thank you for this lite version. I am using it with DeI and already at turn 10 i notice huge difference in campaign AI. Good work!

    i like how you say 'playable' because the vanilla is so not playable

    silly willy, this should work with everything but Radious' Campaign AI mod - so if you're using all of it, he might override those values

    Dude just wanna say that ur mod does a LOT to the campaigne ! Maybe its not as popular as radious stuff (in my opinion radious mods are overrated and the changes feel kinda random) but this i really quality work from u. You are doing a lot for rome 2 right now, keep it up !

    Hi, i'm playing the DeI overhaul and want to add your Barebone to their CAI.
    I'm subscribing from Steam, but it doesnt show in ModManager?
    You recommend that we should subscribe to Steam, rather than using the Movie file downloadable from here. How do I activate it in ModManager if it isn't shown? or is it OK to use the Movie format?

    Hi again,
    Found out what the problem was!
    I needed to restart the mod manager (the steam mod manager, or launcher rather) in order to activate it. I am using the downloadable Mod Manager by Mitch, and it needed to be the vanilla Mod Manager to activate it.
    It's now visible also in the Mod Manager by Mitch so everything works just fine.

    Sorry, been really busy making the most epic battle mod ever, as well as updating my mods..

    Yeah its updated to 1.8 (NO BETA), still need to add links here.

    Scavenger, yeah you're right - Mod Manager is weird like that. Esp if the mod hasn't been uploaded yet, you almost have to use the non-steam mod manager... funky but whatever works eh? Glad you got it going.

    one suggestion - DEFEND_SEA_REGIONS - this one causes AI to send armies in transport fleets into sea, if it is set with high priority.. AI will just consider having them there as more important than having them on land.. Plus, from historical perspective, ancient fleets were not patrolling the seas. They were unable to operate in open sea for long as they just didnt carry enough of supplies. They usually operated close to own ports, which made ports more important as they were bases from which fleets could operate. This was main reason why First Punic War was fought over ports in Sicily.
