Default Patch 7 Variant Part Variety Limitations?

I've (maybe) noticed that since the last patch, the game will only load a certain number of variant entries for a single part (eg. only a variety of 5 torso parts, the rest it ignores), and the higher you set the unit quality to, the more variation it loads. Am I right that CA has decided to do this? I've definitely noticed it since I began modding again (since I first started on patch 1 & 2)

Are you absolutely certain you didn't make any spelling mistakes? If one line has a spelling mistake then that component won't show up. It doesn't make sense to me that higher unit qualities have more variation. If anything they should look more regular and professional. Strange.

I definitely have coded it properly, because I did say that it was working pre-Patch 7, then all my variation suddenly got restricted.
I've installed update 7 today and I've noticed this problem (or not?) too. Before update 7, everything works fine with my custom unit's variations but after this update, many variation element (such as armors, tunics, skins...) doesn't show up. I think as community, we need an explanation from CA and if this is a bug, we need a fix aand if this is a part of update 7 (in order to increase performance) at least they can tell us how to increase this variety limitation for our mods. Unit variation system and possibility is one of the best things in Rome II, why restrict it?
The variation definitely is amazing, and the best thing about creating units in Rome 2... I would also like this fixed/reversed

The issue has already been noted and discussed in several places, for example here.

As Kurisu Paifuaa implies in our discussion about the matter on pages 6 and 7 in my mod thread here, he may have an answer to the problem.

But we're waiting to see what CA are up to next patch-wise before taking definite steps in any direction.

Well, I guess I've taken a definite step already by putting down modding work until this issue is resolved.
