CTD on launch

Hello everyone-

I am having some trouble getting SS working and am looking for some help. I load the game through steam on windows 7.

I installed 6.3 to the main programfiles/sega/m2 folder, followed by the 6.4 patch.
I open Kingdoms and select the SS mod and it loads the first splash screen for a few seconds then a blank error box pops up and the game crashes.

My main Kingdoms game works fine. I have tried going to my steamapps folder and renaming the americas folder and it does the same thing on launch.

Any ideas or help?

run ss_setup.exe with right click 'run as admin'
