    THIRD AGE TOTAL WAR 3.2 RAF music sub-mod 11-2013 ralfsolo

    Hello , here my music sub-mod for TATW 3.2, music, sfx, songs for LOTR lore edited and customized to feat the playing game
    (campaign, battle, good or evil sides), also You can yourself update this submod following the vanilla patchs of
    THIRD AGE TOTAL WAR

    RAF music sub-mod : ---------------------------------------------------

    A - What the mod do :

    You are totally in the Lord of the rings universe now ...


    INSTALLATION : --------------------- see screenshots for help


    1. Go to "\mods\Third_Age\data\sounds"


    Cut/ paste somewhere else the originals :

    MUSIC.DAT , MUSIC.IDX
    EVENTS.DAT , EVENTS.IDX
    VOICE.DAT , VOICE.IDX
    MUSIC.DAT , MUSIC.IDX
    SFX.DAT, SFX.IDX


    2. in "medieval 2 original files", Copy/paste the folder "data" in your main game directory :


    3. in "\mods\Third_Age_3\data" backup these 2 files if you want to have the vanilla music back :

    descr_sounds_generic.txt

    descr_sounds_music.txt


    4. Copy/paste the folder "data" in \mods\Third_Age_3\


    5.RUN the game (it should takes 1 minute to rebuild the new files)

    to Uninstall copy back the originals files

    MUSIC.DAT , MUSIC.IDX
    EVENTS.DAT , EVENTS.IDX
    VOICE.DAT , VOICE.IDX
    MUSIC.DAT , MUSIC.IDX
    SFX.DAT, SFX.IDX

    --------------------------------------------------- : ---------------------------------------------------

    For futur update of TATW ,

    A : --------------------- save from my mod these 2 files :

    descr_sounds_generic.txt

    descr_sounds_music.txt

    B : --------------------- then apply the new patch (TATW 3.3 , TATW 3.4 ...)

    C : --------------------- click on "xidxShell.bat" in the "sounds" folder

    "xidxShell.bat" should automaticly extract SFX and VOICE in their folders


    D : --------------------- Cut/ paste somewhere else the originals:

    MUSIC.DAT , MUSIC.IDX
    EVENTS.DAT , EVENTS.IDX
    VOICE.DAT , VOICE.IDX
    MUSIC.DAT , MUSIC.IDX
    SFX.DAT, SFX.IDX

    E : --------------------- RUN the game (it should takes 1 minute to rebuild the new files)

    --------------------------------------------------- : ---------------------------------------------------

    Use/transform the mod as you want

    UPDATED FOR MOS 1.61+ for people who may like my music mod better

    1. Install MOS 1.61

    2. From my mod in "\data\sounds\" copy this 3 files

    extract_sounds.bat
    xidx.exe
    xidxShell.bat

    2. Go to "\mods\Third_Age\data\sounds" and paste these 3 files

    RUN "extract_sounds.bat" .... 2 new folders "voice" and "sfx" should appears

    3. Cut/ paste somewhere else the originals :

    MUSIC.DAT , MUSIC.IDX
    EVENTS.DAT , EVENTS.IDX
    VOICE.DAT , VOICE.IDX
    MUSIC.DAT , MUSIC.IDX
    SFX.DAT, SFX.IDX


    4. from my mod, in "medieval 2 original files", Copy/paste the folder "data" in your main game directory (if you have not done it )


    5. in "\mods\Third_Age_3\data" backup this file if you want to have the vanilla MOS music back :

    descr_sounds_music.txt


    6. from my mod, in folder "data" DELETE all files except "descr_sounds_music.txt" and folder "SOUNDS" -see screenshot in update for MOS file- Copy/paste the folder "data" in \mods\Third_Age_3\

    7. You need this file than you copy/paste at the end update for MOS it's the new "descr_sounds_music.txt"

    8. RUN the game (it should takes 1 minute to rebuild the new files)

    My next release will also contain music stuff.

    As much as I like the idea of new music for the battlefield, I must say I saw it wont work the way it should be. The point is that the engine cannot set unique music for factions or even cultures so the same rohan music that plays for when you're playing rohan will also play when you're playing orcs or any other faction/culture.

    I tried many different changes on the text files, no deal.

    Anyway that stuff sounds really good, +1.

    Hello, You can custom the songs at your taste in "descr_sounds_music.txt" , in my mod I have cut the faction in two , the good side and the bad side , each side have songs for their mood , more frighting or more heroic, I have consider than any player would like also lesson song from the other sides like a movie, so there are some songs called MIX than are in each sides + all factions have specials songs for their factions ( like the dwarfs have 2 exclusives songs, the elves too ...), + the songs are different in summer or winter time. The songs are played randomly , but you can make a song played more often by multiplied his line in "descr_sounds_music.txt".
    Try a good side then a bad side , it is not the same mood. , sorry for my bad English speaking

    yet you still cant make sngs to be faction specific, thats my point. Making specific battle songs to play only for a specific faction.

    It does not work with DaC Ralfsolo, can you do something about that?

    We change usic in DaC, so both mod are not compatible

    So, i just downloaded this, tried it on an already started campaign and still got the standard music with the BFME music. Started a new campaign and thought i heard the new music. Wnt back and tried the old saved game and didnt hear any new music again. Then started a nw campaign and didnt here any new musc again. Would i need to redownload the music again? If anyone knows please help

    Would changing the audio files in the "music" folder change what is played in-game or would it not play?
