A loss for the EU and the Ukrane certainly I much rather work with the EU than the corrupt Russia of the Czar. Since NATO membership did not seem to be in the offing I don't see any direct US defeat here. Since Russia only real big stick is oil and gas the Czar is loosing in the long run. Once the US starts exporting LNG and European adopt franking and as China's investment in the old south of the USSR take hold... well I think might look different for the Kremlin

Indeed, I'd say Ukraine could be at times more anti-Western then Russia itself is. Can't really blame them, given what Soros and his friends did to the place.
