It's coming out in early access next month, after 8 years of development. We'll see, I don't want to get my hopes up

You say Early Access like it is some dirty word. Some of the most enjoyable games I have played over the past few years have been early access titles! For a lot of these titles, Early Access is synonymous with continuous development and improvement.

The only Early Access I ever brought and played was a terrible experience.

So I share King Athelstan's cautiousness.

I got selected for the BETA! And I did get to play it for a couple of hours in multiplayer, which was quite nice.

As a very brief review, it's more or less the same as Warband but heavily, heavily improved. You'll find it very familiar but a lot of improvements. Still a lot of bugs and the movement is still a bit clunky.

10 of waiting for an Early Access title that seems to be a mild improvement over Warband? Talking about disappointing.

It's a significant improvement but it is more or less the same idea. My main gripe with it is the combat speed, which I really dislike in normal M&B as well - swinging an axe / sword, if you're not taking the space, is very very slow.

One of the main problems with MP is the fact that you have specific classes now, which limits your creative expression in terms of equipment.

Aye, not too keen on the class-system, I tried the beta a few months ago and wasn't overly impressed. We shall see how it goes though

Seems a silly question, but what’s the difference between M+B 2008 and M+B Warband released in 2010.

Off the top of my head: Combat was a bit different with lances etc, the Sassanids weren't in it, more units, items, polish, etc etc. The core mechanics are similar, but it's quite improved upon in Warband
