Reccomend me a few minor mods

I'm primarily looking for mods that flesh out non-roman factions a little bit. The Extended Greek Mod and the like are far too large for my liking, adding tons of (mostly) redundant units and lots of units that can only be recruited from one point or another. Not really my cup of tea. I'd primarily like something that adds a little bit of character to Greece and Carthage, and perhaps tweeks Egypt just a little bit (I'm okay with them being ahistorical - it's more fun than facing Macedon Part II: Desert Avengers everytime I cross over into the Middle East). Good non-Roman skins are especially desired. I'm not a huge fan of most of the gigantic mods I've found either, they tend to overpopulate the map with cities, or stretch the map out into the boonies, or drastically change factions, etc. I'm looking for something small.

Try Darthmod? Makes the ai fight better and new skins for every faction. No new units I think though

Actually Darth Mod has new units, they have plenty. He made Carthage have as much units as rome, but sadly the greeks are still lacking.

you could try terrae expugnandae which adds factions like epirus and bactria and more units for other factions but its not a mini-mod.

Not many minimods out though, so I would advise you to try Terrae Expugnandae or Darth Mod. They both dont really change the game too much, TE changes campaign ai while DM changes battle ai.

Unfortunately most mini-mods end up lost as there isn't a half decent thread category for them.

Besides vanilla and vanilla based mini-mods don't seem to get much encouragement around here.

Yeah I noticed. I'm doing a little mod-work myself within the game right now, but it's certainly nothing major. I seem to be the only guy who doesn't mind the relationship with the Senate, the civil war, ahistorical Egypt, or only being able to recruit one unit a turn. What I'm primarily interested in is making the game look nicer (skins, etc.) and play better/more fairly. It's obvious that the Romans are superior to the other factions (which is fine, if you ask me). The problem is that in some cases, they are so superior that conflicts that should be epic simply aren't (see: Carthage). I'm trying to address that with little changes here and there.

On a related topic, does anyone know of any mods that change the look of the battlefield? Most specifically, I'd like smaller trees (I hate fighting in Germany/deeply forested Gaul precisely because I can never see my troops through the gigantic trees), perhaps some better other vegetation, and a nicer sky. I know these are all out there somewhere, but most of them are locked into some giant mod or another that I have no real interest in.

On an off note: am I the only one who doesn't care for Darth's Formations? I've tried them, but I find it becomes quite difficult to reform units with the drag option mid-battle (occasionally even crashing the game!). Sinuet's(spelling?) formations aren't quite as AI-friendly, but they certainly save me a lot of headaches, as the basic formation keys are the same as vanilla RTW.

Well darth just released a patch. I only played three battles with his 8.1 patch, but those were the three greatest battles ever. And I lost all three, which was quite amazing.
