Default Error crash shortly after entering a battle as Dwarves

I recently began a battle while playing as Dwarves, and I have experienced repeating crashes shortly after the battle begins.

I am using the Steam version of TATW.

I had no errors installing TATW, and the computer is virtually brand new, so it is running Windows 8.1 and has 6GB of RAM, ~2.4 ghz speed, I think it's an Intel Pentium processor (duo-core I think, can't recall; the computer name is a Toshiba Satellite C55-A).

I have one unit of Dwarven Axethrowers in my army presently. Neither team has reinforcements present (it is a siege battle).

I have daylight savings turned off and have also deleted the two descr_geography_new files in my mods folder.

I haven't yet tried other battles, but I am reasonably certain I would be able to play M2TW with no issues.

The game has, so far, only crashed when entering this specific battle. Everything else (campaign map etc) has played out normally without error.

Probably your Dwarven Axethrowers are causing the crash..

There is a simple fix for this ( it can be done in two ways):

    First one!

    1. If you have a data folder in your steam/.../ M2TW/ mods folder, which contains models_missile folder, then right mouse click on that same data folder, click on CUT, and PASTE it in your main steam/.../ M2TW folder. Merge FOLDERS when asked, and COPY and REPLACE option for FILES when asked.

    2. Then delete map.rwm file in your steam/.../M2TW/ mods/ FOLDER WHERE Third Age TW is installed/ data / world/ maps/ base folder.

    Second one!

If you don`t have that data folder in your M2TW/ mods folder, then:

    1. Make a NEW FOLDER on your Desktop.

    2. Install ONLY TATW 3.2 Patch into this NEW FOLDER.

    3. Open this NEW FOLDER, inside there should be two folders present: data and mods folder.

    4. Right mouse click on that same data folder, click on CUT, and PASTE it into your main steam/.../ M2TW folder. Merge FOLDERS when asked, and COPY and REPLACE option for FILES when asked.

    5. Then delete map.rwm file in your steam/.../M2TW/ mods/ FOLDER WHERE Third Age TW is installed/ data / world/ maps/ base folder.

If that doesn`t work, reinstall TATW using these steps: LINK.

Also, be sure to set your Video Options to lower settings, TATW is a resource demanding game. Here are the things which are good to apply:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

In Video Options disable campaign shadows, set Shadow Quality to None, set Shader version to 2, set Texture Quality to Med, disable Bloom and Reflections, Effects Detail to Med or Low..

Just to check, for the first option...

Once I have found the models_missiles FOLDER...

    I cut it...

and then I paste it here? C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Medieval II Total War ?

When I did that, I received no option to MERGE folders, OR copy/replace files.

OK, if you didn`t get that option, the, do the second step ( Make a NEW Folder and install TATW 3.2 Patch ONLY into it ).

Okay, so...I installed 3.2 into that new folder onto the desktop...CUT the "data" folder from it and pasted it into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Medieval II Total War" first...

That didn't give me a "Replace" option, so I cut it again and pasted it into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\teutonic" (where I have my Third Age file located), and it allowed me to "Replace" this time.

Now I can't get past the initial loading screen.

(I did delete the map.rwm file, too)

Well, now you have to reinstall it..

Install it using the steps from the link I gave you in one of my previous posts.

Just writing to say I did a verification of my files through Steam for M2TW, and it appears there were quite a few that had gone wrong. So I corrected that and reinstalled TATW, and everything seems to be running smoothly now.

Thanks for your help, ElvenKind! It's much appreciated.
