    Default How do I improve performance?

    I have not played M2TW since I got a new laptop nearly two years ago. The performance, while an improvement over my last laptop is still terrible with large battles. By performance I of course mean framerate. I have the Huger units sub mod installed and I was hoping I could get an incredible performance with this game. Is M2TW able to utilize multicore cpus or take advantage of improved ram, GPUs etc? What resource is this game most demanding on?

    Nope, and that is the biggest issue and what is probably causing the lag for you. All the combat things are going trough the CPU, which is what is causing the game to lag. I suggest you use normal sized units, not only because of the performance increase, they also make your life easier in city battles as the city stays the same size regardless of what unit size you have. The placement with smaller units is much more manageable, whereas larger units will just be all over the place.

    I never really understood this fetish with gigantic unit sizes anyway, normal is probably best suited for performance and gameplay.

    Some people have reported a sluggish game even with good computers, while others have had no problems with older computers. It's strange. Maybe you're one of the unfortunate ones. Perhaps your graphics processor isn't very good.

    I don't know much about computers, but generally laptops aren't good for gaming, no?

    I always play on Huge, because Normal gives you an army of 500 troops, which isn't very memorable or impressive.
