    Please don't make units take 2 turns to recruit, it would needlessly slow the game down. Elite units I am OK with, but for the general peasant, it should not be.

    But if your playing with 4 tpy then its not slowing anything down and your generals and agents live alot longer. Now it may keep you from rushing like you're use to.

    Don't worry I did the thing differently.

    I made mercenaries immediately recruitable instead.

    Concerning the discussion about the pila throwing :

    It is true that Romans used them mostly on the offensive but there are sources that depict them being used on the defensive too.

    The problem lies in the fact that we can't have both of them (throw on charge and fire at will) as it is one of the limitations of the engine (or so I read).

    As for the number of men that throw their pilum before contact, the entire unit could not throw it at once as the space needed to throw a pila would allow only the first two to four ranks. The ranks behind could not throw their pilum without risking to touch and hurt their comrades of the first row that charged after throwing their pilum.

    So, having two ranks do the throw is actually more accurate as the pila not thrown by the back ranks could be passed to the front rankers to use.

    Yes, that's the case, or it's one or the other, so I prefer to have them throw on a charge.

    Yes, also this is correct. After some further research it is accurate that only the first ranks throw pila.

    The problem in vanilla is that the charge starts too near the enemy so you have no time to do nothing else, but this is resolved in this mod.

    Well in AGA the Roman units have the throw pila ability and also are able to throw on the charge. So that's why i was asking for it to be added back not the fire at will ability which i didn't like when i first tried AGA.

    Yes but the post marian Roman cohort generally had 4 ranks of men. So they wouldnt have had an issue with expelling their pila for fear of hurting their comrades.

    Pre marian each maniple generally were ranked into 6 rows. I can see that it might have been an issue with that system but considering that the pila could be thrown up to 25m it's s hard to believe the back two ranks could not throw the pilum past the first 4 ranks without risking hurting their own men. The spacing between each soldier in the maniple was 2 metres , so yeah..

    So does this mean your post marian units have to be gimped as well? The player after all generally uses post marian units more often since it doesnt take that long to research the appropriate tech.

    At least the throw pila ability gave us the option to decide when to order our men when to use their pila.

    I removed the Throw Pila/Javelin for now from troops but the ability is still there, I just have to reput it. It can be that I will reintroduce it on next update.

    good to know. i wouldnt mind it gone if ca allowed all ranks to use their pila on the charge. moving on... whats your opinion on the scorpion unable to penetrate heavy infantry on the first volley and even on subsequent volleys at times? dont you think all its shots should penetrate? at least it should get a buff to damage/ap damage i think caues its very underpowered as of now and has been since release i think.

    If aiming for realism, while i agree that if a player wants to act like ranged and throw would be ok, I think ammo for pila should be reduced.

    In vanila at least, each legionary have lots of pilla to throw, but in reality how much of them did they really cary in combat? Two?

    I think its damage should be considerable, but the ammo should be around that, about 2 ammo, they would use it but then they woud have to relly exclusivelly on swords or auxiliars.

    In fact in DeI you have about 2 pila to throw, not more.

    But do us a favor, put away the pictures in the first porst to a spoiler, u need to scroll freaking 10 minutes to get to the changelog or download
