    Seems as the variation limit is linked to what level you set the unit details to, I fear it's not a bug but let's pray
    Sorry Splenyi im at work so i just sent you wikipedia as source but in fact you can find more evidences in the two ancient authors quoted.
    Indeed those wedge formation were not only restricted to cavalry. In fact they were very common even for the greeks/romans and later on for the vikings in order to break defensive walls of shields.

    Hi, great mod!

    Think im having a problem with my Hastati and Triarii though, thei are both greyish / blueish with blue shields and very pale, when i switch off DeI their good old red again

    Principes and everything else is good

    Selea, don't worry about complains, after the first version of the new moral system, that was a bit buggy, there are no more weird behaviors.

    But disbanding a unit at 30 % is, maybe, too much, I think that 20 or 15 % is better.

    Hastati paterns should be gold, this is know bug that we will adress soon. Triarii are normal in your picture. Soon we might think of upgrading to the beautifull work of kaziel (v3.0). PLease check it out and report if its suit your needs

    Hello me again, I reported a bug about H'anatim Lybim (Lybian spears for Carthage), that they don't have weapons or shields. Only the corporal/sergeant has shield.

    Here is an image, H'anatim Lybim on the left forward. It is kind of difficult to play Carthage when their first units don't have weapons.

    That is weird because I downloaded the new version 0.4b.. I will try again.

    I have one question: wich difficulty do U suggest? Because i get owned on VH (playing only custom battles for now) does BAI get significant morale bonuses on VH an H?
    I played a lot of campains and custom battles before with this mod (most recent was 0.4a i think) a i did not have any problems before

    If you play on normal neither you or the AI will get any bonuses. So normal would be the most "fair" one. Although AI kind of needs bonuses because a human will always be smarter than the AI.

    • Tweaked and re-balanced battle speed, especially for what it concerns Hoplite and mainly defensive units; this should be a good middle ground between the vast reduced speed of 0.4 and prior versions
    • Increased slightly maximum killing ratio
    • Tweaked morale penalties for better behavior
    • Reduced HP of units in general for more missile balance and more flanking/rear impact
    • Resolved problem with cavalry that made it much more powerful in melee than it should have been
    • Balanced Elephants
    • Corrected bug with Hoplite Phalanx and Pike Phalanx formations reducing morale instead of increasing it
    • Increased minimum strength of units to 30% (this means that units with equal or less men will get disbanded)
    • Made various changes to table for better compatibility with future patches


    Let me know what you think of this new version. I hope to have found the good balance between the primary tactical focus of 0.4b and the more action focused prior versions. I personally liked very much the tactical approach and still like this new version so the tactical feeling it's still there; mainly what's changed is that battle speed is reduced broadly and especially on defensive units as Hoplites using Phalanx.

    As an example in a prior testing of 3 Principes vs 3 Shield Bearers the battle lasted about 11 min before the Principes routed for exhaustion. Now the same battle lasts a little less than 8 minutes.

    Selea, sounds like a great update. I am looking forward to trying it. I think the change to minimum strength of units at 30/25% is a great idea. It should really cut down on the tedium of having to chase down & beat already weak armies into submission turn after turn.

    Love that you took a look at reducing HP. You really are making a huge effort to work with the fan base & I think you guys are just starting to gain momentum. I'm really looking forward to playtesting over the long weekend.

    Here's hoping you guys get approved for a hosted mod section soon. It would be nice if we could have separate threads to provide feedback for battle mechanics, feedback for campaign mechanics, feedback for visual mods, bug reports, etc.

    I'm sure this new update will be liked. It is a good middle ground between the two styles of play and offers a tactical approach but the "need for blood" is still there since the battle speed is increased.

    I also reduced the time broken units stay on routed so they also join the fight again after a little break; it is all very dynamic because you rout an unit and then go to fight someone else and in the meantime the unit routed returns and join the fight again (in this way you can also increase the casualties because before they break totally it takes much more than before).

    Ah - this sounds great, I was actually going to suggest that but of course you beat me to it!

    If the download doesn't work it can mean sometimes that I'm uploading a small variation and the download will not work until the upload is completed.

    Just wait about 10 minutes and the upload should be ready and you should be able to download it.

    In fact I uploaded the pack "silently" because I made a really small variation on a fatigue penalty.

    The only new versions that will be possibly not save game compatible are those that change the campaign map.

    Hey guys awesome mod! i really enjoy the new battle system on how you can only win if you flank. makes battles with the Romans much harder! one thing though. the auto resolve is WAY off. could you adjust this accordingly? its pretty draggy playing almost every "big" battle when its so easy to win when you play it but its a phyric victory when auto resolved. also, when the bar is 70% in my favour and i auto resolve i lose like 90% of my legionaries per unit and it takes really long to replenish my units compared to what if fought (although i like the adjusted replenishment rates)
