eh, I wanted Milan.
Woooooohooooo!
Thankfully it's one of the more obscure less talked about factions. I would have hung myself if it was England or France. (No offense but all I see is them fighting in every screenshot)
What am I still typing for, I have to read this...
Yay! Another faction video to convince my friends to buy this game!

Meh. Get some normans and muslim units and otherwise it's just another European faction.
Well, I'm liking the Sicilian unit roster alot. Might have to try them out.
And yes, hopefully we get a Muslim faction next.
Gotta love the "An army you can't refuse" subtitle, heh.
This faction looks definately better in MTW2, than in the original one. I guess, it would be fun to play the Cicilians.
I think this was good faction pick. They are a unique faction.

The Cicilians were in Asia Minor. The Sicilians are in Europe, and are the ones covered by this faction preview!Originally Posted by Rufats

They look great, but mostly I was excited to see shots of men fighting on walls, it looks awesome. And it is good news that CA has ditched the bright faction colors in favor of...no color whatsoever! Yay! You would think that all Sicilian knights had blank shields wouldn't you. What happened to the medieval colors they ranted about.

"Renowned for their swordsmanship, these infantrymen are protected by light armour, or later plate armour and an open helmet" (In regards to the sword and buckler infantry) would make it seem that there will be a very roughshod 'period' difference, of having plate being introduced as a sort of Marian reform?
I might be wrong as their unarmored version looks very late-era, so perhaps plate is just introduced at a later tier of buildings.
I believe you mean cilicians, Mudd, aint no such thing as cicilian as far as I know.
Yeah....so what if I do.Originally Posted by Ulyaoth

Yeah! My favored faction is previewed.
The preview mentioned trying to work your way up the Italian peninsula against the Holy Roman Empire and the Italians. That gave me a good laugh. That would be as successful as Napoleon’s campaign against Russia. You should ally yourself with Milan, Venice, and the Pope as a buffer from the Northern Europeans. Then take the small islands and fight the Moors. Later get the Pope to call a crusade against any remaining Moor city or a Byzantine city that is next to one of your armies in Greece.
The Ribault gun and Mortar shelling looks interesting. Love those Muslim archers and Viking… I mean Norman Knights. I don’t see any big weaknesses in their unit list, so I’m happy. I never liked using missle cavalry so not having many doesn't bother me. I hoped they fixed the AI so I don't have to chase down the wimpy missle cavalry all over the map again.
They listed the Knights Templar and Knights Hospitaller units. These can probably only be gotten when we have the Knights Templar guild in a city, right?
Is the “Sword and Buckler Men” supposed to be the unique unit? They remind me of the Carthagian light infantry that was "supposed" the be strong against spearmen.
Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
SWEET! In one part of the article, it says the spearmen can form a defensive CIRCLE. Looking forward to that...
You could do that in RTW, right?Originally Posted by Khozemnian

This preview rocks. Exactly what I was looking for. Anticipation is at a fever pitch and I might go in early on a card for the demo. Geforce GT is 200 bones or so. Really defied my expectations as far as historical realism, incorporating Norman and Saracen units, and the broken lancers. The Italian factions will stand on their own this push. Faceplates in the video seemed a bit off but are a welcome touch. Glad they paid homage to the trincarina for the faction standard.

I am, once again, underwhelmed by the variety here.
IE, I am really praying that regional units add some flare here.
