Questions regarding camera

I'm starting to work on replays using FRAPS. I was wondering what tips on camera use you guys can give me. I've noticed that some of the machinima videos manage to zoom in at different points without the mouse cursor being recorded. How is this accomplished? What other tools can be used to produce great videos? (in terms of camera use)

If you're using FRAPS to record it has the option to not record the mouse cursor "hide mouse cursor" in the movie tab of FRAPS. Using the N 'zoom' mode can create some nice shots too but pressing N. You can also enable the debug camera to get an unrestricted camera for great angles.
