    Default Patch7beta "missile target freeze" bug

    I have not experienced the same launcher or other game-start issues which many report with Patch 7 beta. I have encountered a different problem, however, which is serious enough to opt back out of this beta patch. Earnestly hope it is rectified before Patch 7 goes live. I did not see a similar mention of this bug in thread subject lines (not on first page anyway), hence starting a new one.

    Issue: When targeting specific enemy unit with a friendly missile unit, the game freezes.

    I have noticed this in both open-field and settlement battles. With depressing regularity. I have not encountered this problem with ordering melee attacks.

    If I were playing an infantry-heavy faction right now, could perhaps live with it. But am trying out the steppe nomad guys at the moment, where early-game armies are heavily populated with Horse Archers. This particular freeze bug is utterly killing my Roxolani campaign.

    I have the exact problem. Sometimes the game will crash when i click on the velites in mid battle. I'm certain that it's the missile units because i can complete the battle if i don't touch the missile unit during battle. What mods are you using ? I'm currently using AGA along with it's texture addons.

    Ok it seems the bug triggers when missile units are locked group by themselves and ordered to attack a target. They can be grouped by themselves as long as their formation is not locked (pressing G). Locked group only seems to work when there are other melee units in the group. Or alternatively, you can just let them remain ungroup.

    Hmm, interesting...I'll give that a try. Thanks for the info.

    It's still imperfect, and the bug needs to be fixed. But I think this would make patch7beta livable for me, at least with infantry-centric armies supported by a few missiles. I don't think, however, it's enough for me to resume with a steppe nomad HA faction.

    Yep, just tried it out in customs.

    Ungrouped archers = no freeze.
    Archers grouped with infantry = no freeze.
    Grouped archers = freeze.

    Still a problem, but makes patch7beta temporarily playable for me until it gets corrected. It does, however, still significantly impact the way I play. If Patch 7 goes live without a fix, will be a sad panda.

    Glad it worked for you as well. Yeah it's bothersome as i too like to have range units in their own group. Hopefully they are aware of this bug and will patch it accordingly.
