Third Age Crash to Desktop

Game crashes to desktop randomly but always does during a playing session, after playing for 10-30 minutes. Deleted desc_geography and the maps file and turned daylight savings off as many people said this would fix it but there is no change, help please! D:

Hello there and welcome to TWC Forums! Answer these few questions , so we can see what can be done about this problem of yours..

1. What are your PC specifications: processsor and how strong, type of video card and how strong, amount of RAM installed? Is it a laptop or a desktop PC? You can check out this info if you type dxdiag in your Start - Search Programs and Files.



2. What Windows do you have?

3. Is your M2TW steam or non steam version?

4. Did you install all four TATW parts/patches up to 3.2 ?

5. When does the crash happen, during battles, during your campaigning, in some settlements?

6. If your battles crash, are there any reinforcements present on either side of the battles that crash? And, are there any Dwarven Axethrower units present on either side of the battles that crash?

Hi thanks for the reply

1. Processor: AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz. Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650. RAM: 8192MB RAM. I'm using a desktop PC.

2. Windows 7

3. Steam version, installed properly and worked for about a month before crash started.

4. Yes

5. During battles 10-30 mins in but EVERY battle at some point.

6. No reinforcements but a squad of Dwarven Axethrower units HAS been present for every crash

There is a simple fix for this ( it can be done in two ways):

First one!

1. If you have a data folder in your steam/.../ M2TW/ mods folder, which contains models_missile folder, then right mouse click on that same data folder, click on CUT, and PASTE it in your main steam/.../ M2TW folder. Merge FOLDERS when asked, and COPY and REPLACE option for FILES when asked.

2. Then delete map.rwm file in your steam/.../M2TW/ mods/ FOLDER WHERE Third Age TW is installed/ data / world/ maps/ base folder.

Second one!

If you don`t have that data folder in your M2TW/ mods folder, then:

1. Make a NEW FOLDER on your Desktop.

2. Install ONLY TATW 3.2 Patch into this NEW FOLDER.

3. Open this NEW FOLDER, inside there should be two folders present: data and mods folder.

4. Right mouse click on that same data folder, click on CUT, and PASTE it into your main steam/.../ M2TW folder. Merge FOLDERS when asked, and COPY and REPLACE option for FILES when asked.

5. Then delete map.rwm file in your steam/.../M2TW/ mods/ FOLDER WHERE Third Age TW is installed/ data / world/ maps/ base folder.

For avatar, go to My Account - Edit Avatar . Upload your avatar either directly from your PC, or, from your Image Hosting site, like ImageShack etc..
