Just dowloaded it. Didn't see it in Rome, Macedon, or Sparta. Macedonian phalanx is better, hoplite phalanx still . Romans too. They don't hold formation. Maybe because it's still beta?... Is this patch about 150 mb? I keep seeing in other threads that people have seen it. Wouldn't this patch download automaticaly?

Seems I hadn't downloaded it at all. Patch 7 beta is about 550 mb.

it is linked with form_attack ability which is given only to small amount of unit types.

Form_attack is linked with unit types not with units itself. there are tables (im in office so i cant tell you exact name of the table right now, and i dont remember it out of my head) which define certain abilities for unit types.

its not an ability, its an attribute. Look for the tables with attribute eg unit_attributes or somethign like that.

CA basically destroyed the game for me. I thought it to be the best TW engine ever made, but now, I don't think I will ever play that game again.

"Formed attack" was great. I always hated the primtive "brawl" that was called melee in the other TW games. Formed attack gave us something different. It looked great, and was also great gameplay-wise. (clear distinction between rear, flanks, front) It gave battles the great look where solid blocks of heavy infantry, not single guys, fought each other. I gave it to every heavy unit in the game, to the romans, greeks, and barbarians.

Now with the "formed attack" button, you can deactivate it. What is worse, if you do deactivate it, your units become stronger! As a result, formed attack is useless, and battles are brawls once again.
