man it just took me like an hour or more to personaly customize/tweak settings in the descr_strat, win conditions, and change Macedonia's auxilia build times.
anyone else do this before starting a campaign?

Doesn't patch 1.7beta fix the auxilia build times? If not could you upload your modified files for everyone?Originally Posted by dharos

A little bit of re-balancing I have done - which has proved very successful so far (i'm only up to 260 BC) is to adjust the descr_strat file so that;
1. Gaul is "Fortified Napoleon" and starts with 10,000 instead of 5,000;
2. Macedon is "Fortified Napoleon" and starts with 1,000 instead of 2,000.
In my current campaign (RTRPE 1.7 + Candelarius Mod, H/H) Macedon has still defeated the Greek_Cities and riven them from mainland Greece, but has not proceeded to eliminate Thrace and Illyria and march to the Baltic Sea! Macedon is now fighting the Seleucid Empire (and their client kingdom the Galatians) in western Anatolia - which is a good thing, as the Seleucids had only just got the upper hand over the Ptolemaic forces in the Syria-Israel-Palestine region. I like to see a balance of power prevail!
Gaul is holding its own - having overrun all of the land between the Pyrenees and the Rhine. It is now fighting the Germans (who in turn are clients of the Thracians), the Iberians, the Illyrians and Rome. The Gauls are giving Rome a decent fight in the Po Valley (its the first game I've played in a long time where the Gauls are still in the Po Valley at this stage).
I'm playing Carthage and fighting a long struggle with Rome over Sicily. My ambassadors keep our Gallic allies cashe dup with occasional gifts of cash. All is as it should be!

v1.7b didn't actually but v1.8 did change Macedon's Auxilia building time to be the same with the Greeks.Originally Posted by The Walrus
The ability to change victory condition unfortunately are only for RTW v1.5 and BI v1.6 version of the game I believe. For RTR Gold it's not possible but if you play RTR Platinum you were able to change the victory condition.Originally Posted by Towelie

Does this small change in settings really nerf the Macedons enough? I had to change the upkeep and recruiting costs of all the Macedon units too stop them from expanding like crazy , problem what i get is that they dont recruit units anymore but just hire :wub:s of mercenaries. But as Sarmatians it is kinda nice to ride down loads of mercenary skirmishers battle after battle
The Galatians share Asia Minor with the Pontics and are slowly taking over, the Seleucids are losing territory to Bactria, Ptolemies and Armenia.....i'm not sure what settings they have. The map looks kinda cool, ill post it later
Maybe an idea to post the settings here, so people can see the effects on the AI and expand rate of factions.
Sorry all, have one dumb question: Where the ****** you change win conditions? Which file? I'm playin rtr 6 gold, and 45 provinces + rome, if you playin romans really suck.. Also, what are your suggestions, how many provinces + rome would be the best? I dont want to conquer whole world, but at last everything what Rome held at their vertex (if's this right word, my engl. is a bit sucky).
I'm not a moder, but do know to tweak a game 'n' stuff, but still cant find where to change victory conditions...argh
Thanx

Interesting changes there,
I've also pimped my RTR. Quite alot. I'm still on 1.6 with Macedon Met/Nav...But i added all the fixes and updates.
I've changed most units cost and upkeep and restricted many units recruitment e.g stops those armies of Hyspastitia.
I added and swopped in about 40 or more new models and about 70 new units. Changed lots of the skins.
Added civilians, women, elephants, horses and camels to cityscapes. Added 9 new buildings. Changed some of the strat behaviours. Lots of new naval UI and new ships. Seriously reduced happiness bonus...cities actually revolt again. Reintroduced many and increased the freq for natural disasters. Introduced a homeland condition for farming income i.e you don't immediately get the farm income you have to create your auxillia building first. (stops factions becoming uber powerful too early in the game. I might expand this concept )
Added secondry faction banners for all factions. i.e you see two different banners in battle.
I'm about to add lots of new faction specific traits but might wait to see if Macedon finishes the latest version of his mod...
and hmmmmm what else can't remember of hand but there are other things ....

I install MNM with swicth version 1.8 but the game chash about 235 bc. So, I back to 1.8 and I tested with -ai option and not crashed. Then, I started my modification...
Can you say me, how can I incrase the natural disaster???? I would like see the storm in the sea, this disaster never happend in my game. Other question, How can I add unlimited unit???? The -Show err show me a limit for add units.
In my modification, I added the agogé, I know that it in 280 Bc isnīt hitorical but... So I change costs and upkeep etc... and make a lot of changes but Can you show me the UI for some your units and buildins???? Only for learn.
Other thing, How can you make less powerfull the other factions for a slow developement ????? This is interesting..... And the last thing, Do you know a campaing map editor to work with map of RTR, I would like add some cities, I still havenīt work this thing....
Thank
