never mind, just found the huge amount of links for versions. forgot to look lol
Better buy and install Kingdoms first if not done so.
i bought it, i have for a while. downloaded 1.5 and dont know if it worked, i just unzipped it in the downloads area of my computer. dont know if that was right or not
I have a Temp folder for downloads and unzipping. Now, have you tried to run the setup.exe in it?
Have you set the setup.exe to "Run as Administrator" first?
not sure, im going to try and download it again tonight or tomorrow. i usually dislike zip files. never 100% sure where to put the files and tell where everything is
I have no problem with CA's zipped files. Others I worry about. This patch on .Com I was in the middle of pushing for because of the BS missing when Kingdoms was released.
The option is buy the game from Steam because it's already patched to 1.5.
I all ready own the game tho haha. should i just download this with my medival 2 total war file? like the store bought, vanilla game files. or put it by it self?
If you have Kingdoms installed, download the patch to your desktop easiest for some people), unzip it someplace you can remember (desktop?), and run the setup.exe inside it.
I have a Temp folder just for downloads and unzipping files but it does not work for everyone.
Remember, it is gold/non-gold and language specific. One patch does not fit all.
so just download it to the desktop? that's it?
Then you will to unzip it. WinRAR and 7zip do it.
Is it safe to patch to 1.5 when I already have a mod installed? I've got TATW 3.2 and MOS 1.62 installed and running great, but I'd like to try the Eras mod too, so I can play as the Japanese, but the 1.5 patch is required. Would I have to uninstall the mods first, install the patch, and reinstall?
It should not affect TATW or MOS as it does say you can use either.
thanks! and sorry for the late reply
i tried downloading it again and it still doesnt work. i have it unzipped, I clicked on kingdoms.exe and it said "the program cant start because mss32.dlll is missing from your computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem" is there even a point of re installing it? usually when I re install files it never helps.
Like I have said,
1. Need to be logged in as Administrator,
2. Need to disable the UAC for Vista, Win 7/8/8.1.
3. Need to take ownership of C: drive for Win 8/8.1 and some cases Win 7.
4. Install the game in a folder like C:\Games to get it away from Windows' security BS, no matter what Windows version.
5. For disc version, it is Gold/nongold specific and language specific. If you don't get it exact with what's on the box, you'll be doing it, again. US/Uk/Canada can really do this to you. Australia and anything EU can make your head hurt until it finally works. Amazon and direct2Drive downloads have issues all their own with an unhelpful CA/Sega.
Missing mss32.dll is a clean reinstall including a clean registry. CA's uninstaller does not do it.
Did you make sure vanilla and the four Kingdoms campaigns worked before the 1.5 patch? Miles' files don't even get touched after the initial install.
what if i have windows 7? what do you mean by taking ownership of C:? and should i just move the files or delete them/ re install? and il make sure they do. i remember sometimes crusades would crash for quick battles every now and then. sorry if im being trouble some. I appreciate the help
The list is perfect for you, all the steps.
I have since Vista 1.0 for playing with Medieval2 and RTW. You can add SimCity 4 to the list. One lady member had to for her son to play Medival2 to the Sega folder so she could block him from the rst of her computer. The post convo is in another thread.what do you mean by taking ownership of C:?
Can't. It requires in order uninstalling the gam starting with the Kingdoms campaigns using the Uninstall Programs in Control Panel, delete every trace of it, (installing in default folder with UAC enabled will mean you will have two folders to delete), run a good free registry cleaner, reboot, then reinstall.and should i just move the files or delete them/ re install? and il make sure they do.
Post your dxdiag. It could be hardware/driver related.i remember sometimes crusades would crash for quick battles every now and then. sorry if im being trouble some. I appreciate the help
no idea how to be administrator, I do only have one account on my computer. With your point on disabling UAC can I only disable it for that one download? sometimes I find it usefull, and sorry no idea dxdiag is, going on this site has shown me I need to learn a lot more about computers
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...-administrator A good read on Windows Administrator and appropriate links to get yourself up to speed on the subject.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...trol-on-or-off for disabling the UAC. Anything less for Total War is a waste of your time and resources on a game.
Dxdiag? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...iagnostic-tool Attach the text file it generates to your next post.
