    In 289 AL, Balon Greyjoy led a rebellion against the usurper king, Robert I Baratheon. Proclaiming himself king, Balon ordered his armies to strike at the rest of Westeros to expand his newly independent kingdom and to show the servants of Robert that his kingdom was to be feared. Reinstating 'The Old Way', Balon gained the support of nearly the entirety of the lands under his immediate control.

    Harren the Red, considered by many to be a hero of the Ironborn, was the most feared sea captain and warrior in the entirety of The Iron Islands. Some say, he was the most feared Ironborn, ever. A man of over seven feet tall, with limbs as thick as tree trunks, he is rumored by many to be the son of the Drowned God, himself. Wielding a giant red weirwood-shafted great maul, with a Valyrian steel headpiece, his weapon alone was a testament to the distances he's traveled with his ship, "The Iron Warden".

    At news of the planned rebellion and reinstatement of 'The Old Way', Harren and his reavers returned to the Islands, for the first time in years, to heed the call of war. After more than a decade of pirating the coasts of Essos and Sothoryos, his reavers are among the most skilled raiders in the known world. Returning with offerings greatly exceeding any other of his kinsmen, Harren's reputation and notoriety has only grown in the Islands, with tales stretching throughout Westeros as well, of his antics abroad.

    Now, with the unsuspecting Greelanders in Westeros, Harren was given the opportunity of the first strike of the war. One he intended to make none forget...

    So if this is still open I'd like to submit.

    I've updated my story A House Divided twice in the past two days, but I would prefer to go with a chapter I wrote a while back. Would that be okay?

    Anything since November (or in the month any competition begins onward) is a fine addition.

    Would I be amiss if I submitted something from Titanium Core. Granted, it isn't a full-fledged story just yet, but the Intro and character descriptions alone are lengthy enough to be considered short stories in themselves.

    @Hunter:

    The competition is open until January 31st, 2014. Therefore, anything submitted in that time will be credited!

    I hope you can get two chapters together by then, thus making it valid.

    P.S. I find your efforts in background creation brilliantly commendable! Creating a universe for a story setting is certainly no easy task.

    Titanium Core

    Tyler Braedan, founder and leader of Titan Company, leads his merry band of mercs across the stars aboard the Centurion, in their quest to create mischief for the Alliance while living on the fringes of civilized space. In these adventures, Braedan hopes with each successful mission, it brings him closer to exacting justice on a former commander, who'd ordered the massacre of hundreds and destroyed all evidence to hide his involvement from the galaxy.

    Flavius Aetius, a genetically modified supersoldier, has returned from the unknown regions of the Galaxy to build an Empire on the fringes of Federation Space. Beset by an advanced race of conquering insectiods for the past 500 years, the Human speicies has struggled to survive in the harsh world of the Milky Way. Eventually, with his help, they overthrew some of their opressors. But now Aetius, and his Legionnaires, will turn humanity from a race of victims to one conquerors.

    Lieutenant Jenkins, a Federation Soldier, jumps across Federation Space to visit the old tourist colony of New Itallia; only to find that this "Old Attraction" isn't so old anymore - as it glistens with hyper-advanced cities and is controlled by a powerful, secretive technological empire. Overwhelmed by the sheer power of this new civilization, the Federation begins operations to steal it's technology for themselves. As an ambassador to the Romans, Lt. Jenkins can only watch as the beginning of a Galactic War unfolds...

    The Titans, once a 100 million year old Galactic Superpower, are now a species of Giant Millipedes that lumber across the swampy super-forests of the Human colony Coal. Their legacy has influenced the Galaxy in more ways than one, and many of which that are yet unkown. Their technology brought the Romans to their level of extreme advancement, and protected the Galaxy from external threats; but now it has created internal ones. With the entire universe threatened, they may yet again take control of what they once owned to stop the danger, and Humanity is in the crosshairs.

    Starscape is chop full of adventure, combat, and action: and there's more coming. The technology is all based on real scientific theory, and the Aliens are both sophisticated and terrifying races. Watch Flavius Aetius, a man created for war, smash the galaxy to pieces in his rampage of conquests, and bring the light that is Nova Roma to the rest of the Milky Way.
