    Default guide for IBFD?

Hi just want to know if there is any guideline for playing IBFD. I just started my campaign as an ERE and feel a bit lost, like how's the AoR works? how to train Cataphractarii and Clibanarii (they doesn't seem to appear on any building browser)? What tactic would be recommended against early game Sassanid (their Clibanarii is insanely tough and I don't get many spearmen as game started)?

You can recruit the Cataphractarii and the Clibanarii in major Eastern cities such as Antioch. As for fighting against the Sassies, I would recommend playing it defensively until you can get your legions from the West to the Oriens. The early game Sassanids have quite stronger armies than what you can muster in the East ( I think that you start with just one field army in Antioch). You can fight the Sassanids with that one army, but eventually it will suffer casualties and you will get outnumbered. I suggest that you use that one army to protect Antioch ( It is an immensely important recruitment center). After defending your Western provinces against the Huns, recruit some Hunnic horse archers and take them with your remaining field armies East. By the time they arrive the Sassanids will most likely capture Tarsus and some other cities. Try to outnumber them in field battles. Your western armies are strong, but in a fair fight against the Sassanids they will most likely lose. That's why it is important to outnumber them. Don't try to recapture your lost cities until you defeat their field armies. After you recapture your cities, if you have any strong armies left, go on a counter offensive, capture as much enemy cities as you can. Keep the ones you can hold, and burn down and abandon those you can't. This will weaken the Sassanids because they will have to move forces that are fighting the Hepthalites West, and they will have less cities to recruit from, giving you some peace on the Eastern limes.

really? I check on building browser and it did not show any where that I can recruit catapract even on the top tier stable. Did I need any more building in specific like amoury or something?

Also do you know where can I check AoR for the rest of the unit?

    Thanks for the advice btw.

To the best of my knowledge, there's never been a unit guide for IBFD. The best way to find out where to recruit a specific unit is to check out the export_descr_buildings.txt file, located in ibfd/data.

As said Master Joar, but then, you should also write down, in a wonderful downloadable PDF, the single units, their names and the towns in which they can be recruited (if you use colours and some good graphics it would be perfect), then you may offer the downloadable PDF to us, poor morons and fans of the IBFD mods, then as consequence you'll get thousands of +rep by thousands of thankful people passing here, then becoming famous and beloved by the whole community finally you'll become Administrator of TWC!

Sadly, I don't have the time for such a project.

Even if it would be beautiful having Joar as site administrator, I was talking to e22big, he was asking for a guide ....

OK, to be clear I'll try to explain the mechanic of my post:

    1. I've read the post of e22big, this one:

... and sometime also I have thought the same ....
    2. Then, I've read the reply of Joar, this one:

    3. Then, I thought: "But if e22big has to search in text files to produce his own unit guide for IBDF, as suggested by Joar, why not to transform the whole job in a public utility for all the fans of IBFD? Maybe a similar task would produce also a large amount of +rep for the brave e22big!"
    4. So I added a small and inoffensive joke (at least this was what I had thought) about the opportunities of career on TWC for e22big, if he completed the job for the community, transforming a private tool in a public useful tool.

Is it now more clear the whole meaning of my post? Anyway, if you need more clarifications ask, and I'll try to be even more detailed.

    You misunderstood.
I was thinking about the need of making such a unit guide.

It would be useful, if I had the time it would be done!

But for the mod team it's better concentrating on the Mod realise, this is a possible work perfectly suited for the players, to support the Mod team and to make something useful for the community ... anyway, in the end, if the mod was mine (but you have to consider that in the test about the Roman Emperors I resulted Caligula! Not joking!), I would prefer to let the players the suspance of finding the locations ...... what's better than some beautiful ester egg wisely placed here and there?

I could make one and release them by faction (PDF) but it'll be mostly gameplay wise. I know SBH in one of the old threads summed up the historical aspects of the units for FD.

I took the Roman Emperor test and answered what I believed in and do; I got 100% Trajan, 89% Titus, 89% Vespasian, 78% Alexander Severus, 78% Antoninus Pius, 78% Marcus Aurelius, 67% Augustus, 67% Julian the Apostate.

Top 8. Any people who share same percentage are in alphabetical order.

Quite surprised in getting Trajan 100%, maybe it's foreshadowing something?

You can do this for the community, Broski?
If you'll do this for us, all your sins will be forgiven and cleansed ,

and will sit at the right hand of the Father

and a choir of Angels and Saints will sing your praises!
    .... Amen!
