    Default editing unit abilities

    I am trying to make a new special ability that uses the shield wall icon in game but is different from the normal shield wall. Changing the assume specific behavior column from shield_wall formation to pike_phalanx_formation lets the unit have a smaller rank depth than shield wall. Adding can't move as well lets you form a line of infantry who will not move or blob, a lot like guard mode in m2tw. This works very well in game except that some ai units form a shield wall before attacking.

    What I'd like to do is create a new special ability, that uses the normal shield wall icon, to give to selected units rather than altering shield wall for all units but I'm missing something to make it work. How do I connect the new ability to the shield wall icon?
    The tables I used are:
    special ability phase stat effects
    special ability phases
    special ability to invalid usage flags
    special ability to special ability phase junctions
    unit abilities
    unit special abilities

    Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Bump!

    I like your work-around with steady_retreat, but a custom ability like "ciringite frontem" will be ideal.
