Default Where is the Duchy of Burgundy?

    Hello gents,

I was wondering why the Duchy of Burgundy is not a faction represented in this mod. The Duchy of Burgundy was quite significant and prominent, especially in the later stages of the Middle Ages, so why is it not an available choice for custom battle, campaign, or selectable in any way, shape, or form in this modification?

Because they are already at the faction limit and there are factions that are more important than the Duchy of Burgundy.

Actually there is 1 or 2 free faction slots in 6.4, but the units are at max, so there would be need to remove existing units(there are useless units) to make room for new unique units.

It's a juggling act and also liable to a great deal of subjectivity - each modder/modding team has to decide what flavour they want their mod to have and which factions will help them achieve their goals and enrich the gaming experience. The unit limit is not really a barrier since there are more than a few units that could be scrapped without taking away from the gaming experience, it's just that there are only two faction slots remaining in SS 6.4 and there are more than two factions that could be added in. Many modders go with the idea that there are more than enough Catholic factions in the game, and that any new factions should be Orthodox, Muslim or even Pagan.

Yes, I agree that the available slots should be filled with an orthodox or Muslim nation. My suggestion would be the Grand Duchy of Moscow and the Ottoman Empire (or rather a more 16th century version of the faction that stands in for the Ottoman Empire now...)

I think that new factions that will come are Georgia, Serbia and Abbasid Caliphate. All of these have their reasons to be in game, and would make Balkan, Caucasus and Middle East much more interesting. But third faction will only be available if modders will remove Timurids, which are actually not so important faction. They make good horde, but are so late in game that they never do much things anyways.

Given the start dates, Burgundy was part of the Holy Roman Empire, thus it should not be represented as independent.

The Holy Roman Empire fractured in 1356, before that date, it would be wrong to single any HRE faction.

Anyway, Burgundy rose to the heights of it`s power quite late in the game time frame.

That is not to say that I understand what you are saying, Burgundy was, indeed, a very important country for the history of Europe`s high middle ages.
