one question, is that a scorpion in first picture?
well, i'm not specialist with these things but are those scorpions some how matches with greek culture? :hmmm:
I've seen a hoplite using a scropion as his shield decoration within the site. Plus, not every Spartan hoplite had the Λ as his shield blazon; the elites only!
Same old inaccurate Spartans.

Since none is responding to my work, please delete this thread.
Nice work,
don't get disheartened from a lack of responce. Things can get quiet in this part of the forum. People get out of the habit of checking here as theres not been to much activity here rescently. Btw real like the Corinthian shield. My only critism is they look a little classical for RTW. It would be cool to see some new Hellenistic hoplites and units. Siskines, Athenian Theurophai with plumed Pylos helmets, Anything with a good Chalcidean helmet etc. just a few of my wish list
keep up the good work.

Thank you my friend. However my goal is to represent the glory of classical Greece to RTW. That's why my units seem so classical.
He is right. Your job is very good and don't stop it because you don't get any responce.Originally Posted by KALI

will you also be doing other factions like rome and stuff?
Like Neverwinter Nights? Wondering where to go now that the old NWN Vault is gone? Come visit the new one at http://neverwintervault.org/!
Nice shield on the sacred band guy,![]()
the Chimera makes me think Etruscan but I'm sure it originally came from the Greco-Achaemenid world.
The elite hoplite shield is a little blurry though. I Guess thats becuase you increased the shield size but not the mapping size. Many do this with the same result. Peronally i'd use 512x512 and enlarge the shield mapping. The rest of the elite guy is faultless. Excellant work.
p.s Hope you don't mind the constructive critism.
Thank you all. More units will be out soon.

OK, I'm going to ramble on about historical Spartans, 'cause they're my speciality, so don't be insulted. First of all, once the army's uniform was standardized, all shields were painted with the lambda, the upside down V thing. No, it is not Alexander the Great's symbol. His was the Vergina Sun, the pointy star thing that's in a lot of mods. So it was not reserved for the "elite." Unless the mod is before, when Sparta was still growing, all shields would be blazoned with the lambda. The lambda is the Greek "L," standing for Lakedamonia, or Lakonia.
Everybody says that RTW's Spartans are inaccurate. In truth, their one of the most accurate units in the game. Everybody wants tons of metal, Corinthian helmets, plumes, red capes, and other things. They wore this around the Persian Wars, but not for long. Soon, heavy armor was being discarded for maneuverability as more advanced battle tactics were evolving. Spartans discarded their armor later than other city-states, but still did, and wore exactly what they do in RTW. The open-faced Pilos or Pylos helmet, the crimson cloak, and the plain shield adorned with the lambda was all they had. If this mod is during the Persian Wars, then go ahead with the crowd-pleasing uniforms, but there were no Spartan Royal Hoplites or any of the kind. Your Spartan Royal Hoplite is fine, just make the shield bronze with a red lambda.
Also, most people think Hypaspists were hoplites with swords, but they weren't. Greek city-states didn't even have them. You may recognize Hypaspists as Macedonia's Foot Companions. That's what they were. Not swordsmen or whatever. Another thing is that the units are too colorful. They wouldn't have been able to be so vibrant and whatnot. The shield emblems for the rest of the units are good, though. Also, every single unit uses the Corinthian helm. I would make only a few, tops three units have it.
Still, these are only historical suggestions, and you need not heed them if you don't want. Other than that, the units are great. I don't want to critisize, because you, and most other people, can skin much, much better than me.
Dear friends, since my project is coming to an end, i'd like to show you half of the progress. The remaining units are archers, cavalry the flag bearer and the generals.
You can download the final unit presentation here.
Enjoy!

Just curious Kallikratis about a suspense date, if any, for the release.
It's encouraging to observe your progress, and I'd like to see the rest as well as these in action on my tactical map. Excellent work!!!
