Default Brutal FPS on Campaign map, any ideas?

so I have a decent comp, 3.6Ghz quad fore AMD FX, 16 gb ram and 1 gb vid card, the battles in the game run sooo sweet, however the fps rate on the campaign map is brutal rendering the game unplayable. I tried running it in windows xp copmpatibility didn't do a thing. Is there anyone out there with a solution?

When this game was released, XP and single core cpu's still reigned and the game's optimation then left a lot to be desired.

Do you realize that everything including the kitchen sink goes through that one core of your cpu bfeore your graphics card sees one byte of data? It does and no optimation to counter what everyone of us have run into trying to scroll the map.

Are his ingame settings the same as yours?

Maybe his is factory overclocked? I've read 4.5GHz i5 Ivybridge does wonders but I can't afford the luxury.

I'd bet mountains, dense forests, and large and huge cities. They do it to me in RTW and M2TW both.
