Yes, will we get all we expect in MTW2? Will it become the "perfect" TW game, with everything you were ever longing for in the previous games? I don't think I will get everything I wish for. I didn't in RTW.

if it does or not, CA still makes money..which is all they're looking for.
Thank you for reading this assuredly fantastic post.
Rome: Total War, despite all of the moronic slander it gets, crushed and reinvented the RTS genre. I have no doubt in my mind that CA, a company who always delivers, will outdo themselves with Medieval 2: Total War just like they did with the Medieval to Rome transition (graphics/gameplay/everything-wise). Better graphics, better AI, and better overall gameplay... it'll be great!
Will it meet my fantasy expectations? Never. No game can. But will it meet my realistic expectations? You can bet your life on that one.

It can't be perfect. And I know it won't be. But I know for sure that it will be worth 49.95€ and one of the best gaming experiences of my life since the first Medieval. So ride on!![]()

I even think if some of the things that are important to me dont work,
I will still have fun with the game, for some time.
That could be your neighbours attacking you no matter what. Or if you (and the AI)
could just pop up with full stacks every turn making battles insignificant.
Denmark being in Poland and Spain in France by turn 50.
Nations being where they shouldnt really bothers me.
Or if all improvement is just about graphics.
I also think the realism in RTW and M2TW is fine.
As long as there is no magic and wonders, I could use more fantacy units.
Personally i think this game is going to kick major ass, i cant wait to play it. I'm super excited, everything lookds awesome. I'm not one for historical accuracy.
I could say the same.It does look beautifull, very much improved from RTW.One thing we must understand is that TW is all about well combat..huge armies clashing against eachother.
I hoped for different victory conditions.Main is hold 45 provinces and some key provinces.
This makes me question diplomacy system again that has been talked so much about it.What use is diplomacy and keeping good relations with some neighbouring country when ultimate goal is to take over it.Well all around it!
Well i just hoped beside the awsome battles, that overall medieval age would be depicted somehow better than just more beautifull graphics, nicer animations and new videos.I just hoped for more TW politics, intrigues depicting those of middle ages...I dont know, well its wait and see :\
Fighting with the Wisdom, the Bosnian Kingdom
The best bet would be to let Paradox make game at strategic level (campaign map AI, diplomacy, economics etc) and leave tactical battles to CA. What a game this would be - imagine EU II + MTW2. In my dreams that is![]()
It'll be good......it'll be great I think.......but there's no way it'll satisfy everyone.
I'm just going to take it as it comes. I can't stand these people who see something that is brilliant overall and yet nit-pick and pull them to pieces. Like the LOR movie trilogy - I read the books as a teen in the 80s and loved them, and still enjoyed the movies, yet this mate of mine complained "It's CRAP. Treants weren't like that.." I told him he was a bloody idiot. It's just dumb to expect perfection when at the end of the day it is a money making exercise, an extremely difficult thing to do and be able to run on mid-high range PCs etc.
Take it as it comes people, and if you don't like it........don't play it. Stick with RTW + mods. They rule!
Nothing will ever meet all the expectations somebody has for it. It's impossible. And while some people would love an ultra-realistic game, just as many people would hate it. I wind up standing somewhere in the middle.
None of the games have been perfect in my eyes. Medieval's AI is better, but the battles themselves are clumsier and harder to control than Rome's are. Rome's AI isn't the best, and the game becomes too much of a "siege after siege after siege" type, which gets dull. Especially because you couldn't have a field battle with the enemy first, like in Medieval. If you were good (and the AI fight you), it was possible to exterminate them, and avoid the tedium of a siege. That's Rome's biggest flaw to me.
This looks to be a balance with both games, and just may hit the right spot. After all, they didn't have to code the entire engine this time, which lets them spend more time developing AI, features, and the like. Sort of like the difference from Shogun to Medieval.
I just saw a movie on YouTube, and thought: wow, this is incredible! But is it completely flawless? Will I at some point think "hmm, there's something missing here"? And as you have all been saying, propably yes. Allthough it shouldn't save me from taking all my spare time! :tooth:
no, because some people want gameplay, others want historical accuracy, it might meet all my expectations, but there are a few that are already dissapointed.
