How can I edit the autoresolve so that it does'nt auto-kill 1+ of each unit?
Is it possible?
I am creating hero units, but they automatically die in autoresolve 99.5% of the time, I want to know how to make it so they don't die. Even when it's 20 elite units against one enemy pleb, there is always a loss of heroes, leading to loss of the units afterwards. This also happens when withdrawing. I changed the entities stats and land_units stats, also added entries on cdir_military_generator_unit_qualities, all to no avail.
So, any hopes?

In the campaign_variables table there are some values that affect auto resolving. You could try to play with some of those.

I don't use auto-resolve that often but I have been surprised at how many kills my generals unit tends to take when I do. You would think the AI would choose your less important units for the primary battle tasks in its simulation of the confrontation...

Thank you Dresden (your mods are awesome! lol) but not much success there, either I made the AI rape my units or everybody lose 1 unit, it's still pretty much the same, maybe I ought try harder on that...
sneaky, that's the problem, the AI does nothing, it's just a game of dice between numbers, it's like some table RPG combat that happens instantly, there is no prefference, the only exceptions are some bonus such as "missile time", "missile shots", "spear vs cav" and so forth that take a little less losses and inflict heavier losses on the enemy. In theory, its like every single unit formed a single line in both armies and they walked through each other for 10 minutes, then they retreat and decide who lost more men, and therefore the battle.

Hmm it seems more like, to me, that the AI is using my elite troops to do ALL the fighting because my weaker ones seem to come out with little damage. That being said, you might be happy to hear that patch 7 addresses this problem. I won't quote the notes but I am nearly 100 percent positive that I read through a number of lines dealing with these auto resolve issues. Another one similar to this, and that I was very happy to discover is that CA has made generals less likely to die in battle now, with patch 7 that is.

Thanks a LOT man, I will read them notes and see if anything else is necessary, I hope I don't have to modify much of my mod with the new patch.
