Help: Cannot start SS 6.4 and Kingdoms on my Win 8 OS

I have installed M2TW and Kingdoms into a a folder outside the programme files on my Windows 8 64 bits system.
After that I installed SS 6.3 and patched it to 6.4 properly. After finishing everything I started the game (I was offline) and played for some time without major issues.

My UAC was off while installing the game and my Win 8 system was completely updated.

However, after I connected my laptop to the internet again, I could not start neither SS nor Kingdoms anymore. I always get the message:


"This application is not compatible with the installed operating system.Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or better."




Can someone help`????

Problem solved. Updated my graphics drivers.

I have sucesfully installed SS 6.3 and SS6.3_installation_patcher_v.2.5.exe to my PC. After that I installed patch 6.4. Then I was setting up campaign Early age era and after pressing OK "Error: Cannot read the start-keyword in file data\campaign\sub\BGR2.txt ; Valid keywords are: append, translate, overwrite, replace"
or "Error: Error while trying to create a temporary file. Operation aborted." were displayed

I haven´t found any folder of SS 6.4 in “C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods“ just SS 6.3 folder

SS 6.4 is possible somehow to launch but image is only on half of monitor and there have been still present down Windows menu toolbar.

I have Win 8 64 bit OS

run ss_setup.exe with right click 'run as adminstrator' that will fix the unable to create a temporary file problem.

its a win8/UAC thing.
