Default So I decided to give it another go... and I'm having fun??? (My mod list)

So I gave it another go. Fully Modded. And it's honestly making up for alot of vanilla's failures.

I wanted the genuine RTW experience so I booted up Rome on VH difficulty. I unleashed the Roman blitz on the Etruscan League and overlooked their usual ineptitude. If i was to truly test Rome 2 I would have to carry on. Surprisingly before I slew their last general they allied with a particularly nasty tribe of Barbarians to the North who decided to raze two of cities seriously damaging my income. I was little taken aback by the unusual aggressiveness and the clever alliances being formed against me. I now had 3 tribes in Northern Italy marching against me, periodically raiding my southern cities and inching closer to Rome.

After some very hard fought epic battles and losing various Northern cities. (Velathri was sacked 3 times.) I finally kicked them out of Italy. It took four full legions to do this, not one. The enemy was organized and planned attacks with its allies accordingly. What game is this?

Looking around the map, Carthage has taken Sicily with several full stacks and the Greek factions (minus Epirus) are completely allied up. Enemies are all around and waiting to be slain. Am I actually enjoying Rome 2???

If anyone's curious this is mod list I'm using via steam workshop. In my humble opinion its made the game 10x better. Battles are decisive and last longer. There' also a lack of blobbing, you can see individual soldiers really duking it out. Siege AI with walls has yet to be tested. I have experienced no CTD nor conflicts with these mods. Hats off to the awesome modders who made these! Enjoy!

Hard to imagine they're all compatible. Especially the first 2 ones.

Possibly. I do think some of the silven features have been cancelled as I do not have 2 tpy, but I'll take what I can get from Rome 2.

There is no way those are all compatible.

Sounds like you have bumbled into some magic melange potion that turned a turd into a log (a timber log i mean, something of value in Rome II).

Doesn't mod manager notify you if there's a conflict? I suppose it's where they are located in the load order that takes presidence.

Unless you are being insidiously sarcastic this is the takeaway for me.

Great result; great thread; have some rep because your remarks confirm others I've received. Basically, for me, if the battles are more immersive then I can take a mediocre campaign map. The battles are the whole point for me. Some good news at last.

This is simply my experience with a combination of these mods. The CAI still does silly things with transports and such. And sometimes they leave their towns ripe for the taking. It's not the brutality of Roma Surrectum by any means but it is an upgrade. (In my campaign Carthage is a powerhouse.)

The Artis battle mod and the realistic battle time mod truly make battles better. Artis in particular adds a great ability to the Roman legions. It's called "cycled line" its a great defensive posture that alllows them to hold better formation with out the mosh. Looks great, especially when you're outnumbered by the Barb horde.

Generals tend to not suicide and I've seen them use their abilities in crucial moments. Enemies will flank and hit you from the rear. I have actually lost a few battles. I have not played many siege battles so I can't comment on that.

This isn't perfect, but it's much better than what this game was a month ago.

So just to confirm, you were able to run Radious and Silven together? It seems too good to be true but if you confirm, I'll give it a shot.

Yeah, pretty sure that most of those aren't compatible. Silven, at the least, won't mesh with a few of those.

If a mod is released or the AI is patched so that siege battles are bearable, with siege equipment being used properly, the AI not standing around to get torn up by towers, and they actually fight at the gates instead of just rushing for the cap flag, I'd probably be playing this daily with Silven's mod. As it is, the siege AI just makes it unbearable for me.

Damn I spent 20 minutes typing all the 30 plus mods I have running from the SW and this site then tells me to refresh the page so the whole list is gone (You do not have permission..blah blah..refresh the page). With trial and error you can get a whole lot of mods working together . Mine are mostly reskins, new units, game play tweaks and main mod Radious. I finished a whole Athens campaign with just a few crashes and am enjoying a new vh Epirus game now.
Vanilla must be awful but the modders are definitely improving things as always.
I also started a new Napoleon TW campaign using the NTW3 mod, always used Darthmod before. NTW3 is just as good.

Edit: I'll see if that Artis mod works with my mods. Sounds like a great improvement. The good thing with the SW mod manager is that it's easy to delete or uncheck mods that don't work with your already installed selection.

Sounds good, but does radius mod in Rome 2 have the (IMO) ridiculous cheap upkeep it had in shogun 2?
