No, as long as you don't change the descriptions inside the brackets!

Check the download thread for version 4.0 once more under the link of version 4.0, there is another link for the translation.

The translation files are packed in a .rar file just extract them with winrar and and copy the files inside the Italian Wars mod folder.

    JMJ -

Does anyone else notice that cavalry crossbowmen are kind of useless but that a lot of regular crossbowmen are devastatingly effective? My cavalry xbows will get much closer than they need to and get demolished by enemy archers (higher rate of fire I think) and cavalry.

Now regular xbows are powerful. I charged two units of cavalry into a line of enemy xbows and they lost half of their men just charging, crashing into the line and then retreating. Crazy!

Not a bug or a problem, I just need to adjust my battle strategy accordingly.

Currently we are about to adjust the attributes of quite every single unit, so hopefully we are able to eliminate such "bugs" with your upcoming patch.

    Finally.

Certain troops have just either immersion breaking or game breaking stats.

Having full plate armor knights as some regular cavalry/infantry with half the stats they deserve is just awful.

It's not a terrible 'bug', just something that needs to be taken into account by the player. I have managed to use xbow cavalry to good effect at times. It's usually when I'm already telling myself that I will not use them again, they pull off something awesome.

Now maybe I should mention that I have ALWAYS had problems fighting the Ottomans in MTW2 vanilla. They are the ones that give me the most problems because of their good mobile cavalry. They tend to be the ones who mess up my cavalry, and xbow cavalry, the most. I just need to learn to adapt and overcome them.

Been playing this mod for the last couple of days and I am loving it. Great work!

However, there's one thing is bugging me off: the buildings' textures seem much more low-res than vanilla and other mods (like SS). I've checked my settings and I've got the building detail at max, but, in battle, it still looks pretty bad, which is strange. Is this intentional?

Well, yes somebody else has also mentioned this issue.. and no it wasn't intended.
We will try to fix it in the upcoming patch 4.1.

There are two larger issues before we can release the new patch.

The missing sounds for the Hungarians and the unit balancing, along with some other minor issues

Do you already have an idea when the new factions will be inclued? In which version, I mean, not when in time, I know not to ask any modder THAT question

That sounds earlier than expected, thank you! I am already so much looking forward to it, since the more recent TW games are rather disappointing and I have no interest in Warhammer either. Furthermore, many of the most promising, long standing MTW2 mods seem to have been more or less abandoned, so I will be fully able to concentrate on your splendid, little project

Thank's for your praise comrade! Very appriciated

Yes, I also get the impression that the most projects are more or less abandoned... but the most common mistake and that is why so many struggle to finish a mod, is that they are to eager for the details in the beginning. Details mean work and work is time or better it takes time and so they all get lost in their details. They needed so much to time to come so less far that they don't want to continue...

Start step by step, at first foundation and afterwards adding all the details. That is what I have learnt
Sorry for getting of the point

    Looking forward to your suggestions!

Oh yes, I know well what you mean, being a member of three mod teams myslef (albeit only as a ''historical advisor''). People must be patient and committed to the project, which is not easy to reach at all. Great projects like Tsardoms Total War or War of the West never managed to finish a product anywhere near the heights they were striving for (though both mods are not completely dead yet). So I am very much appreciating your plan, best of luck for the future development of this mod

What do you mean with my suggestions?

Let me see which ones you have and what I know about them:

Duchies of Ferrara & Modena (d'Este): It would be good to have as many of their historical characters represented as well as possible. I'm sure you are looking at that anyway, but I just thought of how some of their family members became involved with the Borgia (like Alfonso I. d'Este) or the Italian wars in general

Republic of Ragusa: Weren't they practically a vassal of Venice at the time? I'm not sure that feature works well in Medieval 2, but try to connect them to Venice somehow

Margraviate of Mantua: The main thing about Mantua I know is that it was well fortified, but I'm not sure when exactly it was extended to a fortress. If it already happened this early, it should have a decent defense in the game.

Republic of Siena: Obviously Siena is a marvellous example for the exhibition of Renaissance architecture and art. I don't know if you want to individualize any cities or if you add those unique buildings on the battle map as well (somehow I always fight battles near villages, in forests or no man's lands when playing the mod ), but if you ever want to add that or already plan it, Siena would be a great candidate

Emirate of Tunis: I don't really know anything about them to be honest

Republic of Genoa: I saw you are already adding maritime and sea trade boni for them. They should really be that kind of faction, but still different from Venice. I don't have any better ideas right now, but if you have any more precise matters I will try to help anyway

The choice of new factions is very good, though
