    My thoughts exactly!

Just how credible is this "reporter"?

With no proof or source---and having only copied the figure from another reporting site, the writer also speculates that the 800k figure reported in the financials did not include digital. We've discussed this at length, and several here who've had experience with financial reports believe otherwise, but regardless, the reporter
should not have stated it as fact.

I've come to believe that the term "game journalist" is a total oxymoron.

    Cheers

by the way anyone knows if the 800.000 are sales to retailers or sales to end customers.

Activision currently tries to make their sales looking more epic this way, stating turnover with COD Ghost naming the figures for sales to retailers (does not mean that people buy their storages empty)

for physical I believe the standard is to use retailers not end users, thats for the phonographic industry and other that deal with dual merchandise (physical + digital)

It's all sales through 30-9-13. Preorders, downloads, the whole lot. It's also likely to be the only time SEGA releases sales info about Rome 2 as an individual title. Their practice is to report top selling individual titles in the quarter they are released. So COH2 was released five days before the first quarter ended and it sold 380 K at that point.

its all sales through whatever period they ended, not the day that is stamped there

Right. coh2 was released June 24 and the quarter ended June 30. That's five days after release and counts all sales from the very first beta sale to the last one on June 30.
