Phalanx, Shield Wall

Is it possible to get shield wall in RTW 1.5 and have phalanx?

I don't think that's possible. It is impossible to have shiled wall at RTW as well.

so just really impossible? then how did Sig do his animations like that? There must be a way to combine the game! Has anyone else done this?

To get the shieldwall in RTw 1.5 you need to run it through the Bi.exe using the -mod:my_mod command line. But it can't be used in a unit that has the phalanx formation as well.

In properties, go to the target line and after the ......exe" add a space then -mod: (something) im not sure what to but where the (something) is as i've never used this method.

You have to add this attribute to the unit you want by opening the export_descr_units notepad.

well i guess ur doing it for troy which is for 1.5 version
so what u will need to do is install rtw then bi then patch bi with 1.6
now install ur mod in rtw data folder
now go to desktop where open shortcut bi.exe now add as lusted said


now u can add shield wall artribute in edu {from rome data folder or mods }
and playing them with bi exe will give ur units ability to use shield wall

well u can only have one abilty at a time iw u cant have phlanxe and shield wall abilty at sametime for a single unit
if u want to stimulate both of them,

then i would recomend changing their formation setting is bring them closer to each other and use phalnxe option as special ability

i did what you told me lusted, but it wont start, it keeps going to menu

rtr has units ie spear-mens
which are by-default in phalanx position
ie they can run in phalanx position etc.
so u can use similar units give them phalanx ability by-default and add attribute of shield wall
so they can interchange their formations

but i don't know how they achieved it may be 'lusted' can explain this
but i think they have changed set of animations for spear-men because their are no changes in edu

thats not what i meant! i want SHIELD WALL AND PHALANX IN 1.5! IM NOT USING IT FOR THE SAME UNIT. Im using shield wall for spartans and everything else is phalanx. Got it now?

Calm down. You´ll get nowhere by yelling at people, but that real fast.

I think you´ve made a slight mistake with the -mod feature, perhaps I can help.
First of all, make a desktop shortcut to the BI exe. In its target/command/whatever line (which you see when you open the shortcut with rightclick->properties) just add "-mod", nothing else. The BI exe will automatically access the default RTW data folder instead of the BI folder. Now, to try it out, do this preferably with a vanilla installation. If you can play the normal 1.5 RTW Imperial campaign by using the shortcut you just made, you did it right.
Now that you know it works make the changes you want to make in the RTW data folder (not! the BI data folder).
