Default Third Age Total War problem with submods

    Hello!

I have installed Third Age Total War, which works fine, besides from some major bugs that I have just learnt to ignore. However, I have tried installing 2 different mods, which should work fine, but when I try to launch the game with the mod installed, I get the can't find kingdoms.exe message.

I have a clean install of Medieval 2 (all the patches) + Kingdoms (all patches) + Third Age 3.1 (using Baron Samedi's mod) and 3.2 (for MOS).
    It's not Steam
    Windows 7
Baron Samedi's mod has worked before, but now that I have reninstalled everything after not playing for a year, it doesn't work.

I've already tried reinstalling a couple of times but it doesn't help.

the mods are installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3

not sure why its Program Files (x86) and not just Program Files, but even if i put the "normal" path during the install, it automatically puts it in the (x86)

    so anyone can help me?

also, not really relevant, but it has bugged me, is the many bugs i have no one else seems to have, such I can't click on the diplomacy tab, can't use diplomats to open diplomacy with other factions, i cant right click on buildings, can't open up enemy or allied cities/armies, all these lead to CTD

    Hi there!

Answer these few questions so we can help you:

    1. Have you installed both submods into a same Third_Age_3 folder, or, you have made a Dual Installation of Submods ( LINK )?

    2. Does your M2TW/Kingdoms work properly?

    3. Did you install all four TATW Parts ( 3.0 part 1 and part 2, 3.1 Patch, 3.2 Patch ) ? Baron`s submod needs a separate Installation of TATW 3.1, and MOS needs a separate Installation of TATW 3.2 in another folder.

    4. Where is you M2TW installed? Give us correct location.

    1) I haven't installed both submods at the same time, at the moment I only have MOS installed

    2) I haven't played a full campaign on kingdoms, but the game launches and i can start a campaign and custom battle (and all the bugs i mentioned do not appear in kingdoms, only in TATW)

    3) yes i installed all 4 parts, including 3.2. i am aware that Barons works only with 3.1, but Im not using Barons at the moment, only MOS

    4) C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3, this is what i get if I right click on the Third Age desktop shortcut and go to "open file location"

Follow these steps to install TATW and MOS properly: LINK.

Be sure to manually direct TATW Installers to the location of YOUR M2TW. And then, after testing TATW 3.2 and checking does it work, be sure to direct MOS to the correct location of your TATW 3.2.

For battle crashes disable daylight savings, go to Control Panel, Clock, Date and Time, Change the time zone, Change time zone, uncheck `Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Savings time`. Apply and OK.

    Good luck!

    sorry what is the VirtualStore?

VirtualStore is a folder which should contain some of your M2TW files , which actually bug you if they are present there in that VirtualStore folder.

Things get put there when an application that does not have administrative power tries and put files to a location that requires administrative power (Run as Admin). The folder prevents the application from crashing and burning. You are safe if you delete M2TW folder located there.

My Installation thread has all the info you need: LINK.

Okay thank you so much for your quick and helpful help!

I realised that the problem was that the install for the mods was automatically directing the install to program files (x86) instead of the normal program files, so I just manually changed it and it works perfectly!

    thanks again elvenkind
