Well there is a screenshot of the pope calling for a crusade against the sicilians so yes I think they will.

That is what I like about the Byz. They cannot crusade or jihad so it adds an extra level of challenge since they won't have those special crusade/jihad units to recruit.

It was a lot of fun battling those huge crusader armies as the Byz in MTW and I expect to have just as many massive Crusader/Byz battles in M2TW.

Although my real favorite near eastern group would be the Late Persians, I also have a great love of the Muslim armies, so long as they are done as reasonably armored forces (if not as well armored, or 'heavily trained' as europeans) and not in the old-cliche of being in nothing but robes. For comparison - I'd play the Muslims if they end up like Caius's muslims, but probably not if they are more like Crusader-TW. Both look great, but the nimble ways of the latter do not do it for me.

I'd rather be Muslim and conquer the Crusader's lands. If only to teach them how to bathe because the stink of the Franks is bothering us from across the Mediterranean and all of europe. Although necessity will probably force me through Asia Minor, I'd be happy to have the byzantines as allies, and go from North africa into Italy, or through Spain. Those Orthodox fellows are aww-right.

Jihad inspires me much more than any Crusade. More flexible and you don't have to need a supreme religional leader such as Pope. Just prepare your conditions and declare it. Wash and go or Thrust and stab You dan't have to follow Pope's desires it's completely depends on you.

Crusader definitely... i had awful experiences as the Almohads in M1TW. Don't think i'll be revisiting them on my first game in M2TW!
