    That too would be nice.
But even as an anonymous mass it would be difficult to compete with Sega.

Don't want to sound discouraging, but does CA really take into account these polls?

They read the forums and at least in case of the family tree and torches polls we got responses, yet still waiting for facts.

In that statement about deadlines, they seemed so excited to have limited time that they seemed sarcastic.

Don't get your hopes about fixing the AI by just learning about it and applying some algorithms, I doubt they have enough of the code exposed to be able to do much of anything. Whatever mod ends up fixing the AI, it will probably be by a lot of trial and error and manipulating the game stats until they brute force the AI into being smarter.

    Hello everyone,

Valve released the monthly global Steam stats. As mentioned in the OP making a 64bit capable engine does not solve the issue itself but it would be technological unreasonable to make a complete new still on 32 bit.

To support this I would like to share the most recent figures of how small the current part of 32bit OS users is, and additionally how many can upgrade their OS without a need to buy a new Windows license according to Microsoft EULA.

Also please not again that all people still using a 32bit OS Windows are not the same amount that would not be able to upgrade because lack of basic hardware requirements in form of a 64 bit capable CPU.

Thanks for your participation in this thread so far. If you have any comments or questions please read the Q&A in the OP, but do not hesistate to ask if those do answer your questions / concerns.

A new engine would be great! I loath Warscape and whatever "improvements" it brought! Those improvements could have been made on a different engine aswell, but warscape's way of handling the game is !

So after Patch 7 did not bring the announced performance improvement we could need more votes and feedback here.

I think you missed the intention of this thread. I am not longing for a new game but a completely new engine (after Rome 2 has been fixed)

Problem is the combination of SEGA+CA is even worse than anything+EA. Sega is a little crappy publisher always short of money with no big interest in satisfaying their customurs but their shareholders. CA could probably do better, if they would simply listen to their big community.
EA started listening they say, so should start Sega and CA.

    I totally agree with alQamar

Ive been able to play every single game released so far with a 32-bit Windows 7.

I dont want to not be able to play future Total War games.

The only reason i dont want to upgrade to 64 bit is because it requires a new windows 7, which in turn means losing everything i have on my PC, i dont want that.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that if you have a 32 bit Windows license you can obtain the 64 bit one for free/with a price advantage.
Plus, if you don't want to make backups in order to do a OS reinstall, you can simply do a soft installation of the 64 bit OS over the 32 bit one.
Disclaimer: the post above is way way prealpha, the final version will be way better than this.

Kostas you should get in touch with my Q&A in the OP. There is no need to "loose anything" on your PC just because of a Windows reinstall. The 64bit license and 32 bit license is the same key. Just just have to get a Windows DVD install. So it is free at all.

Actually if you try to play Call of Duty Ghost this is one out of many future games (and a couple of past games) that will not run on your 32bit Windows 7.

I posted in the patch 7 discussion thread about how this scripted linear Warscape AI (compared to the dynamic AI of non-Warscape games) ruined and continues to ruin Rome II. Combined with shoddy, lazy and incomplete work they did with the AI, it is a nail in the coffin. Really, this engine needs to go.

A: That is not true. If you have a legit Windows Key you are allowed to use it either for a 32bit or 64bit installment. So all you need is a DVD for the installation, which is easy to get for free.
