Default Problem with my new monitor

    Hi all

I recently got a new monitor. After i connected it to my computer, i opened RTW to see how the new monitor was, but then something terrible happened!

The screen turned black with the text out of scan range. On my old monitor i apparently set the pixels a bit too high inside RTW.

So my question: How can i set the pixels to a lower level inside RTW, without being able to see anything inside RTW?

i really hope you can help me

    thanks in advance
    /noeb

I think you can change your game resolution (and other settigs) in a .ini file located in the RTW root directory.
I'm not sure what the exact filename is, and I don;t have RTW installed atm, but you should be able to find it.

i don't know how to change anything in the directories, so if anyone could give me an easy step-by-step guide on how to change those files, it would be great.

By the way i use RTRPE...

i looked aorund i the RTW folder but i haven't been able to anything with .ini in its name. Do you have a more exact position for it?

    that would be great

EDIT: all right, i found a file inside the RTW folder called preferences. It's the same informations as inside the game options.

    it says:

    STRATEGY_RESOLUTION:1024x768
    STRATEGY_MAX_RESOLUTION:1280x1024
    STRATEGY_32_BIT:TRUE
    BATTLE_RESOLUTION:1024x768
    BATTLE_MAX_RESOLUTION:2048x1536
    BATTLE_32_BIT:TRUE

    What shall i change?

    Change:
    STRATEGY_RESOLUTION:1024x768
    BATTLE_RESOLUTION:1024x768

What is the monitor you're using? These resolutions are fairly low already.

Yes, I had expected those figures to be much higher.
Surely your monitor can handle 1024x768?

Maybe you need to set it to it's native resolution, most TFT screens have a native resolution of 1280x1024.

sounds like a widescreen, judging by the resolutions he said he could only use

It's a cd that comes with the monitor. You install it so Windows won't considered it as a 'gereric monitor'. It helps Windows recognize the proper resolution and refresh rate the monitor supports.

Note, many flat panel monitors do not support the higher resolutions for games if you are connecting via DVI inputs. You need to use the analogue Dsub input to get the higher resolution for games.
