    Default [CK2] [Released] Diadochi Kings Mod

    Hello everyone! A small team is working on this beauty, called Diadochi Kings, it's essentially a total conversion of CKII that aims to represent the struggle of Alexander's successors! I work on language related stuff and graphics, but most of the credit goes to rickinator9 and Teutonic Thrash who have done most of the work, including a whole new map! Check it out:

    Installation instructions:
    If you already have an earlier version of DK, delete it.
    Open up the .zip file and place the contents in <Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod.
    If the <mod> folder doesn't exist yet, create it.

    For DK BLC, toggle it in the launcher along with DK. DK BLC requires all portrait DLC to be toggled on, otherwise you will experience portrait glitches.

    Mac users have to create the save folder manually. Go to~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/ folder and create a new folder. Name it Diadochi Kings.

    FAQ:

    • The CKII Engine doesn't allow negative dates, what's your workaround for this?
      • This mod uses 776 BC as the year 0 as that was (presumably) the year the first Olympic games were hosted.

    Sneak Peak: The Odrysae
    One of the things that we do not like about the current state of Diadochi Kings is that a lot of characters don't have heirs yet. One example is Kotys II, King of Thrace at 495 or 281 BC. While giving him some children I thought it would be fun to add his ancestors as well. It was a lot of work to research all of the members of this royal family that ruled what was a tribal union for the better part of 500 years. Now here's the result:

    It ran without problems so far. Would love if the map was expanded to Hispania, Gaul and the parts where Roman Empire (or at least Republic) had existed.

    We might do that one day, but it would likely mean completely redesigning the map. That is a lot of work: The current one took near to a year. I would rather complete this map, it's history and flavor before considering to add the west.

    Update!

    DevDiary 9: Patch 0.0.5

    In this DevDiary we will showcase some of the changes that have been implemented in 0.0.5, which is coming Friday 20th of December. This patch will also provide compatibility for CKII v2.0.2. Arabia For this patch we set the goal of converting that wasteland below Mesopotamia into a playable area. We know that the Arabians didn't really get involved into politics above their peninsula but that doesn't mean a player won't. As you can see, most Arabian provinces are in the south-west in modern day Yemen. This is because most of the data we have on Arabia is about ancient Yemen. We know that there were several kingdoms here and we know of a lot of settlements in this area. Western Arabia has several kingdoms. Lihyan is in the far north. It was about to fall from unknown causes and this is simulated in the mod with it's vassals becoming independent. Saba is the largest kingdom in southern Arabia, but it is bordered by 3 other kingdoms: Ma'in, Qataban and Hadramaut. Ma'in and Hadramaut are especially dangerous since they share the same dynasty. Eastern Arabia has two kingdoms: Gerrha and Majan. They were conquered at some point by the Persians, but had become independent by the time Alexander the Great campaigned against Persia. Crimea This patch also includes some improvements in the Crimea. By adding 3 new provinces to the area, we made it a lot cleaner looking and made it a bit more significant. We are also able to better show the extent of the Bosphoran Kingdom at this time. They are a lot less stronger because they only hold the 2 sides of the strait of Kerch. The rest of the Crimea consists of independent poleis.

    Woot! Marvelous job, kudos to the whole team.

    I do wonder one thing. What factions have been added to the Arabian peninsula? Nabataeans and Sabians might be the chief ones of course.

    I see that I now have to download this for the second time since 2.0. Darn you being too quick, Hobbes.

    Although, to be honest, I've barely played it. I've only had time for one game, my Sicily Ironman that I plan to play to 1444 and then convert, although I'm more inerested in mods now that Ironman has been added to them (w/o achievement of course)

    I just can't seem to have the will power to not savescum in Pdox games, even though I find more enjoyment when I don't.
