Been away for a long time and need some tips

Have not played SS in well over a year and want to get it back up and running.

I have Kingdoms successfully installed and know I need to install the 1.5 patch for gold. However, I have downloaded it and when I open the rar file and click setup.exe my computer (window 7) asks me if I want to run it (patch) and then drops it without proceeding. Any ideas. I have a new machine and have moved from XP to 7. And after that I need to install 6.3 to then install 6.4 correct?

use my guide for ss6.3 and ss6.4 installs (link in signature) run the patch setup.exe as 'run as admin' via the right click menu.

Thanks for the help Lostheif. I used your guide which was simple and easy to follow and the game installed like a charm. Nice to be back in action.
