    Default PC Powerplay Final Preview

    Hi all

A small final preview of ME2 is in this months Australian PC powerplay magazine. Its got your standard info and screens that all previews seam to have, except it has this interesting bit of info that ive never heard before:

{picture of a city with smoking comming out of a chimmney & the capton says} "Check the smoke pouring out of the chimmney of this building. A lucky shot near the chimney of an enemy's building can scatter hot embers and spark fires. Yes, the destruction models are that detailed"

Did anyone know of this? It could open up some new seige options!?

It also goes on to say that sudden rain can change the battle field almost instantly, so looking for potentally flat areas where mud might appear can be used as an advange. For example at the begining of a battle you might form up just behind a potential flat muddy area , wait for it to rain & then draw the enemy in with horse arches for example giving you an advantage.

    cheers

shouldnt the AI not be that dum, i mean, the mud luring?

seems pretty cool that the surroundings are that dynamic. is this magazine reliable?

Yes PC powerplay is a reliable source. They have visited the Australia Creative Assebly's office in brisbane where the games being made.

About the mud, even if the AI dont get lured into the mud, at least you can still use it to protect a flank, like rocks in RTW.

Anyone else use the rocks or houses on RTW maps as a flank guarder?

What do u mean Matt??? IN real life, humans with brains are that dumb in battle too, in some cases, more dumber than the AI...so if the AI is dumb enough to fall or not dumb enough to fall, it adds an unpredictable that will frustrate and delght u

    lol, true.

it's a good feature to have. if the AI doesn't fall for it and they go around, you're flanks better be reinforced or you best go around the mud yourself!

And if your flanks are impassible or you have a very high ground advantage if they attack from the flanks?

Mike, for those of us who won't get access to the Aussi mag you may write a short abstract à la 1. point, 2. second point, etc.. Would be cool man, without doubt!

Yeah, I saw this as well, though to be honest, I doubt that it's 100% accurate. Most likely I would have thought it just to be hyped up misinformation. In game the smoke would probably just appear as the building got more damaged.

i think what they are getting at is the battlefield will be more dynamic during actual gameplay which says to me that its more variable than just having mud somewhere. its hinting at the mud developing during the game when it starts to rain. so the AI or the human player may already be in the area as mud developes and get bogged down unexpectedly.

all of a sudden it makes picking your battlefield more interesting because you dont always know if its going to rain or not - and the developement of mud during a battle might also render previously chosen 'perfect' defensive sites a liablity rather than good sites. especially interesting as we are also going to have to deal with other battlefield obsticles such as dead horses and men.

Looks good and sounds very interesting, I cannot wait for the demo to test the destruction models of cities and the environment. Next thing I suspect, we can set a forest ablaze when the enemy is under the trees.
