The lack of a campaign, has nothing to do with the Lordz not want to make one, but the more with the fact the RTW engine limitations and modding tools do not allow us to make something that we consider good enough as a campaign.

For more insight go and read the NTW2 FAQ thread on our forum.

The Lordz would love to make a campaign mod on a TW engine, but we need help from CA if we ever going to build one.

If you read our arguments why we cannot make a satisfying Napoleonic campaign on RTW and still do not believe our insight or jugement, there is nothing we can do more.

I think you should trust us on this matter. Again we want to make one, but we cannot without some hardcoded AI changes only CA can help us with.

P.S. If you bypass our work just for that reason, I think you hardly have an idea as what we have done and achieved on this engine without proper tools or support. The fact the TW MP community embraced our work with a lot of enthousism should make you at least try out some battles as than you will understand why we sadly cannot reproduce that gameplay on the unaltered SP AI of RTW.

Well the Lordz have done a pretty good job on Borodino, and I expect them to live up to expectations in Waterloo. Until the possibility of making good campaigns comes about, that's good enough for me!

me i still havent beat the historical battle... its fun as hell but real hard even on medium lol... i usually take the small redoubt and the town but when i have to attack the great redoubt i usually have a hard time because the AI has like 4 units of curiassers and they charge right when napoleon signals the attack on the great redoubt... my units arent even set and by the time they reach my men all my men under 90 men routs... and i have no cav support because i always have to use my cav to help my Allies to break the right flank which they cant do by themselves... lol

I've noticed that the AI is a lot better in the recent update... god only knows why. It's still dead easy to beat, and it always attacks, even if it's the defender

But atleast you get to check out your cool units and try out different unit combinations

As to TheWayOf Zen, you're cutting off your nose to spite your face mate. Speaking for myself, I could care less if you want to crack a sad over the lack of the campaign in NTW2, and tbh, I don't think anybody else cares anymore either, if only because the Lordz said it would take them another YEAR to finish the campaign to a playable standard.

Nope, I'm quite happy with what we've got.

flip if you leave your artillery behind when you assault the hill and just run straight up it the nme will run away giving you some time to move units into positions around the hill, then just run you units to the bottom of the grand redoubt and slowly work your way up

Keep trying, you'll get it... through luck if nothing else ^^. Plus apparently you don't actually have to attack that nasty Grand Redoubt from the front.... thanks for telling us guys!

wat i do is after i take the town i try to rush the chasseurs and the grenadiers that were there across the bridge and attack the 2 units on the other side so i can get a foothold but because of them being real near to the bridge its kinda hard

my plan now would be, garrison the initial 2 units in the town at the choke points, and when it is time to move to make the final attack, move the cav and inf etc to the left flank where you started to deflect the cossack charge into the allied units (who just stand there like idiots) and then march through the town and flank them that way. (I haven't tried that yet though)

As developers alredy told, TW is a game where RT battles and TB campaigns play are united in one game. In fact, CA once told that they are dissapointed that TW players think about the TW as a RTS game.
Perhaps you have become a TW fan because of battle (which are great), but I became a fan because I always wanted a game that comibines those 2 elemets into one.
And I am not saying that N:TW is bad or unfinished, mind you.

if for some reason someone doesn't play TW in MP, then battles alone are pretty boring. You'd need very good AI to keep it challenging. But then the same goes for a campaign. If the AI doesn't bring any challenge, it won't be fun for long. Which is what would happen to an NTW2 campaign.

Exactly. Even on the highest difficulty you basically just get rushed.

However if you simply MUST play a custom game, I have the following advice:
    1) Always set the AI to Hard or Very Hard.
    2) Never choose a map with any kind of watercourse or bridges or anything else that might confuse the pathing AI.
    3) Don't bother giving the AI a mounted general, since they charge them straight into you, kerplode, serving no further purpose except if you set it as the general unit, to cause a rout. Rather place an elite infantry unit like Middle or Old Guard, Life Guard, or whatever it is the Brits have (I forget) in the general slot, so that the AI presents a challenge rather than taking a few shots and routing.
