Am i the only one that thinks Shield Screen/Wall is useless?

Am i the only one that thinks they are mostly useless?

i mean the buff is nice and all but why would i use it if it both breaks up my line and makes it smaller giving my enemy a big welcome to surround me?

isnt it a better idea to make it similar to phallanx formation, in that it doesnt matter in what position you are they just raise their shields?, that way atleast i would find it usefull to use and not blow up my strategies,of course nerf the buff a bit since this way it would make it too strong i feel.

i also have a similar feeling about the hoplites.

what do you guys think, do you share the same opinion or is it that i missed the only one and glorious way of using this form?

thats what i do most of the time since i dont have a better tactic, but what is the shield wall for if not to take charges? why reduce the unit "width" so to speak, it only brings problems for what i have seen.

nothing works anyway... phalanx fromations and shield walls are broken ...actually they are non-existent and work only visually.. pike wall is half-broken. Therefore there is no point worrying abt it too much at its current state

u should test this and see that difference is big. If cav charges into your inf and u have shield wall, they stop the charge and casualties are minimal, but try the same without shield wall and u will see that u take much more casualties. Same with elephant charges and what not.

For true meaning of this u must either play alot of MP or watch mp battles from Zaript or Prussian Prince or some other who knows what going on the battlefield
