    Default How to create a new unit in Rome surrectum II???

    I'm playing a campaign with the Carthaginians, and I see they have a few units.

    I wanted to create a unit similar to Roman legionaries, without the testudo, like the African elite heavy infantry in Europa Barbarorum.
    I thought to take as a model the Late libyan sperman, remove the spear and put in its place a javelin, so that they become heavy infantry units.

    I would like to create a phalanx units as Elite African Pikeman, in Europe Barbarorum.

    How can do it?


    I have no experience in modeling 3d, or other similar thing.

    I'm able to use autocad 2d-3d, but I don't think that is relevant.

    I would be very happy if Carthage had some african infantry unit permanently armed with the sword by Roman style. Early and Late lybian spearmen have a sword as a secondary weapon, so they fight with it only rarely. For example, I mean unit from RTRVII which has the same skin as the Late Lybian Spearmen in RSII...african heavy infantry (reform) ?... I'm not sure.

    once I tried to set a sword as a primary weapon (for late lybian spearmen), and removed a secondary wep, but I think it not worked

    This is the entry for the Late spearman in the Descr_model_battle file.

    type late_libyan_spearman
    skeleton fs_spearman, fs_s1_swordsman

    model_sprite merc, 50.0, data/sprites/RS_late_libyan_spearman_sprite.spr

    It's a single entry and that is good because you will be changing a single unit. When several units use the same cas file it gets more messy.
    You can try replacing the first skeleton (fs_spearman) for the javelin animation (something like fs_javelinman, you will find several entrys for missile first weapons on the DMB). Doing this might work or not, it probably depends on the CAS.file (those are in the model unit folder).

    Second option is to replace those files ( cas and texture on that entry by those of RTR VII). If you keep all names similar and change the two animations, first for javelins, second for sword you should have no problem.

    So:

    Open the moddel_unit folder and look for the corresponding CAS.file and texture. Rename those, ad a _1 or something to change their names. Now you have cut the link between the DMB and those files.You can always put their names back if you want and restablish the link.
    Place the CAS file and texture from RTR VII on the model units folder and give them the original names of the RS2 original file and textures. If all goes well you will have no CTD and have the unit to your liking.
    Caution: back up the DMB file and Model unit folder just in case. If a CTD happens puting all back as before might be necessary, specialy if it's a first time at modding.
    To change the unit name with little trouble, go to data/text and look the export_unit file, look for the late lybian entry and change the name outside the brackets.

    Ex: from {late_libyan_spearman} Late Libyan Spearman to {late_libyan_spearman} Carthaginean Infantry

    Note: If you are doing this for the one turn campaign you need to do those change on the DMB and export_units inside the One-Turn folder.

    The mod is also maxed out at the hard-coded cap of 500 units, so you'll likely have to remove a unit to fit yours in.

    Not if he changes a unit, but yes i believe you can't ad one.
