Default Flaming arrows bugged under patch 5 or nomadic DLC?

Hereīs the story: I ran custom battles, always one horse archer vs. one hoplite. With normal arrows, 15 volleys killed 14 hoplites. With heavy arrows, 15 volleys killed 82 hoplites. With flaming arrows, a single hoplite died.

Did the flaming arrows get nerfed when the heavy ones were introduced? Especially: Was the armour piercing property of flaming arrows reduced or eliminated?

Or was it a bug / a freakish coincidence?

For testing, did you try using a skirmisher unit and using their flaming javelin?
Also which horse archer, and did you try another?

Because that certainly sounds wrong. The flaming arrows should certainly kill more then the normal arrows.

Scythian Armoured Horse Archer vs. Athenian Hoplite. The same setup/map in all battles. Hard difficulty, vanilla patch 5, all three current DLC. Dry weather. Using precision shot whenever avaiable and useful. As far as I can tell, the conditions were the same in all three battles.

I didnīt try anything but the setup above, i.e. no javelins/slings, other units etc.

It's intended. Flaming shot reduces morale but does less damage and reloads slower. Arrows no longer have armor piercing without heavy shot.

I thought the mouseover says Fire Shot does increased damage, with reduce reload and accuracy?

I'm pretty sure they nerfed flaming arrows and javelins in one of the patches - and good thing too, flaming arrows should be useless except for setting fire to wooden things.

The tooltip is inaccurate and has not been updated since the changes to ranged damage in patch 4.

Ah I see, thank you for clearing this up then, thats pretty useful. I've always been switching to fire projectiles thinking "Well they do more damage!" but that would explain why they haven't been as good as I remember...

using flaming arrows three regiments of archers only kill about 10 enemys each in the whole battle. Useless,...

I have always use flaming arrows to reduce morale, not to kill. I send my kataphracts for the kill afterwards. Even hoplites breaks from attack in the front.
