Ps. I got an update to Geforce Experience (so not really a new driver), something to do with shadowplay, etc. If anyone notes the changelog, feel free to copy it here. In any case, the wait for a proper driver continues..

Any update on how the new driver performs ? I've read conflicting feedbacks on Guru3D so i've refrained from installing it at the moment.

I've noticed performance increases but they are very unlikely related to the driver because CA changed the benchmark since the patch 7 hotfix some days ago.

Hello guys, originally I wanted to try out if the latest NVIDIA driver is offering any performance increase.

In the time between my OP and now not only the driver changed but also the version of patch 7 was updated.
Officially there was no note that something has be done to performance or the benchmark, but this is now quite evident.


The performance in the benchmark changed a lot - that is the good news
The bad news is that AI and engine are issues now plain visible in the benchmark. Believe me, as I spent more than 30 hours into benchmarking Rome 2 I can see any small difference.

However this is what the patch 7 beta patch did positively. Only on ultra preset Inoticed a stepback regarding the max fps while the overall FPS stayed same. The performance over all presets and maxed out settings improved.

Appreciate the benchmark but it does seems like there's negligible improvement from the driver. I'm incline to believe that the hotfix may have influence some of those results as i notice some weird behavior during the benchmark - particularly during the first close up of the soldiers. I could swear they never used to pause and shuffle during this scene.

The lack of communication between CA and NVidia is ridiculous. Why even bother making extreme/ultra settings if you are not going to support high end technology that isn't even new. Between this and other gameplay and technical problems with the game, I will personally hold CA and Sega responsible and will not ever purchase another Total War game. They have completely lost my trust and I have been a fan for quite a while.

patch 8.1 brought no improvements, except some minor on "very high preset", while "high" is worse again.

This game is a pure jeopardy when it comes to performance...
