Default How to fix ROME 2 by....Me.

LIST OF FIXES I WANT TO SEE:

    -More agressive campaign AI
    -Better UI
-More unit variety, not only in terms of visuals but also in terms of gameplay, it's ironic that there's less variety than in shogun, difference betweel royal thorax swords and galatians? The helmet.
Difference between ashigaru and samurai matchlock? Completely different playstyle.
    -Naval battles revamped.
    -War chariots that actually work
    -Elephants that can charge
    -Family tree
-Politics redone from the basics, they suck, hard.
    -Traits completely redone
-More turns per year, with research trees and times fixed accordingly, slowed down experience on agents
-More diversification among agents, faction unique agents
-With the turns per year increase, reduce a lot the range of general movement on the campaign map
-Reduced forced march range, it's a forced march not the march of miracles
-Reintroduce roads as buildable instead of based on prosperity
(the three fixes above will increase the amount of battles on the field, this will avoid the trend of fighting only siege battles.
-Put a limit to elite and bodyguard units, no more armies made of praetorian guards, once you get a doomstack going, it's game over, you can kill 2000 enemy soldiers while losing maybe 20 (THANKS HP BAR, WHAT A MARVELOUS MECHANIC)
-This would have to be done by some dedicated modder: Bring back the old damage system, this would need a total rebalance of all the units
-Generals can only recruit while in cities, city garrisons affect economy, no more huge amounts of income to support 6 doomstacks, you actually have to use lower tier units in your army just like it's supposed to be.

    Thoughts?

Go ahead, ask for more, it'll all be in the next patch or the next DLC or perhaps the next game.

Just don't forget to pre-order today.

    Nice one, I dig sarcasm.
I would like to add slower and longer lasting battles to that list, please!
But I won't add any more, as I doubt CA will have time for it all, what with the 2 other games that their working on(that we know of) and Steam box thing for RTWII, and further DLC and expansions for us.

I think he isn't expecting anything from CA but from modders, in that case much might eventually be realised, I'm still playing vanilla now everything is getting patched and mods are still making their first steps, but in time I will look for a decent mod. I'm already watching some mods, radious looks promising, didn't try it yet, but might do it for the next campaign

Mods will do the majority of what you ask for and more. In fact there are several mods that do quite a few of what you suggest already.

I would prefer a smart and working AI to simply more 'aggressive'.

One can only hope that the family tree and/or politics will be improved by CA in a dlc (to me it seems the political system is half finished as it is, so they could possibly release it as dlc, but i wouldnt keep ur hopes up). I would be fine without a family tree as long as the 'families/houses' political system is properly fleshed out - the potential is there.

The better/improved UI has been suggested in these forums with a marble look and feel to it, and another UI, which is quite different ,has also been suggested on the official forums as well - Both are quite interesting and flesh out characters and the political system while introducing family trees. Im pretty certain you wont get this from CA, however, but possibly in a mod (depending on mod tools to be released...).

If you introduce roads as a separate building chain, then you are one-slot-short in every province (what will you do for provinces that only support 3 buildings - where 1 is the town, another is the port then u have a road and nothing else in that region?). Also, if roads are introduced you will need to maintain them, which will be costly (especially if the enemy keep pillaging them). What about maintenance for other buildings? I quite like the provincial road system as it is.

I agree on the agents being more diverse. At the moment they feel like carbon copies of one another with 1-2 skills being different. They can ALL assassinate...

Depending on the modding tools and info that they aim to release soon, these may or may not determine the likely-hood of most of your suggestions.
...longbows, in skilled hands, could reach further than trebuchets...
