    Default Seige AI is so smart....but i'm even smarter

    So this Knossoss (krossoss wtver) blockade my city with full stack of raiding hemolias which has a big arrse army in it.

    Since i don't want to waste my armies on the water, me in typical fashion decide to withdraw most of my armies except for 3 gladiators units. Lo and behold! They decide it times to teach me a lesson in taking the city.

    The problem is they don't know how to do it and don't want to get his javelins into melee combat and so they decide to sit and enjoy the views. They came to kick arrse and chew bubble gums, and there plenty of bubble gums to go round.



    You might thought. Hey!! AI are smart and they don't want to go in unless they can win. Give them credit will you? piissed off at this treacherous disrespect, I came up with an ingenious plan. That's right!! I decided to burn down my own gate




    ...and in they goes to their GLORIES!!!!




    ...btw for some reason the gate capture point is on a solid wall section so there were no oil pouring whatsoever...just brilliant!

    Actually middle units do not have torches, only melee units can do it. I found this to my shagrin as Parthia - that's why the AI was just standing there. If they were able to burn down the gates they would have ploughed through regardless

    Actually missile units can burn gates down - you have to set them into Melee mode (crossed swords button) then they can burn gates down like any melee unit...

    The problem is the AI only seems to use Skirmishers as Melee once they run out of ammo... so they never try to burn the gates down...

    Missile units DO have torches (which, btw, are far better at burning down things than flaming shots), but they can use them ONLY if you put them in melee mode (it was the same in Shogun 2).

    well...no...not AI department only...its an example of how deep the incompetence in the project management and game design is really rooted
    since nobody ask itself the simple question what happens if there is a siege battle and no siege engines and no units with torches...
    answer: nothing happens....a classic infinite loop if it would be a function.

    As well I found city gates do not open for my own units who come from the other side (Massalia) landing with their ships in order to reinforce my units in the city. I have to sent plebs to capture the gate...this is....errrrrr.

    I forgot to mention that they have a melee gen from a tower ship. Either way, AI stupidity is solved...yay!!!

    So essentially to fix our own Seige AI we have to burn down our own gates??? Brilliant CA I am sure this is how it was planned from the beginning. Another BRILLIANT design feature by Julian the GOD of AI. All Hail Julian!!!
